I was hating MSU indefinitely with a passion for the 2016 class. #4 on 247 with two 5* & two 4*. They really have 6 more schollies for '17?

Depends on Bridges, Langford, Winston, and Ward. All top-50 freshmen who could theoretically leave. Most likely scenario is that MSU will have 3 or 4 ships: Costello and Ellis graduate, one or both of Bridges and Langford head to the League. Ward and Winston don't fit the standard 1-and-done profile, but they both have unique traits and could decide to make the jump.

Matt Costello graduated last year.

Kind of surprised they are so enamored with a kid at this level at this point in summer considering his reported spring.
Groce really needs a very strong 2017 class to move the program forward and keep his job.

I found his highlights pretty uninspiring.

Bridges is a sure one-and-done. The rest of the incoming freshmen will be around for at least a second year. They have a rent-a-center (or PF :D) who will leave after this season, too. Eron Harris and Gavin Schilling are seniors (but Harris is a red-shirt senior) and Taurean Thompson may or may not take one more roster spot in the class of 2016. I'm guessing MSU will have 5 scholarships to use with the class of 2017. Bowen is a near lock, so that's one. They need bigs, so they'll probably take 1 - but more like 2 - bigs.

Wasn't it Tilmon's family that expressed concern over their son going to a school with a lot of arrested players? It sounds like maybe that has been resolved.

Honestly think the kid would prefer a quiet visit. Wish he could have one.

If Tilmon were to commit soon, it would accomplish a few big things. First, from a need perspective, we absolutely have to get a rotation-worthy big man in this class. That box would be emphatically checked. Second, a potential MCAA/top-25 talent committing would help legitimize the program in the eyes of other recruits. I think, for instance, that our chances of landing Jordan Goodwin would go way up. Guys like Scruggs, Eastern, and Justin Smith would at least certainly take notice, as well. If Goodwin did jump on board soon after Tilmon, it could trigger a windfall.

Nice to hear Tilmon is on campus. Tilmon and Goodwin would really get the thing to another level.
