Combes isn't saying that. He is just saying we need a PG another PG cause TJL will be the only true PG on the team after next year.
To me, you need to get a PG every year. It's like QB in football, you need to recruit one every single year cause you can never have enough ball handlers.
I've been following Wisch for the long time. He's speaking largely truth though he does let frustration come in to his pieces from time to time. Groce needing to make the tournament this year is a more than reasonable sentiment.
Now, if we put together a monster class and Groce doesn't make the tournament then Whitman will have a tough decision to make. The point Wisch makes is, on the court results speak louder than recruiting results and up to this point the on the court results have been unacceptable. To say nothing of the off the court issues.
I still want Groce to succeed here and I hope he does get a chance to stay if he pulls a monster class.
With 13 rides, you can't take a PG every year.
Yea I would aim for 3 PGs every 4 years.

Tough to expect any team with injuries to their projected starting Center, Power Forward, and Point Guard to make the tournament. The back-ups become the starters, bench players become the new subs, and freshman are forced to play earlier than they might be ready for.
One positive from last year is that those freshman showed a lot of progress as the season went on due to the competition level. I'm expecting big jumps from the entire sophomore class (including LB and MF.)
I'm sure we will see the OVs set up to where Scruggs will be the weekend before Frazier to give him tha opportunity to commit first. Like Brunson then Evans.
Frazier can ball though it's not like he is some slouch. Would be very happy to land him.
It'd be nice if Tim Finke committed. I know his family and coach Hroce want him to experience the whole process, plus it's not like we don't mind these other schools wasting resources on recruits that are Illini bound!

How does JG compare to Sergio? All the descriptions I've seen here sound identical yet I have not heard this obvious parallel once.
Goodwin has the same toughness, but is more skilled. Sergio was great in HS but had Griff (and Frankie) with him and was able to concentrate more on leadership with less pressure to carry the team every procession. Goodwin has had less support in his career.
Goodwin reminds me of Marcus Smart in HS, although Marcus was a little further advanced IMO.

Who said we will leave two open spots? Groce will try to sign a PG (nothing to do with the players mentioned) and another big, PF/C type, via transfer, 5th year, or other HS player. But we are not going to pass on an opportunity for players like Uyaelunmo or John if they want to come.
From mixtape viewing only (I know, I know), I'm more impressed with Mayan Kiir than Theo John. But I see Kiir is a 3-star guy while John is a 4-star. What does Theo John have over Kiir at this point?
Absolutely. And if you balance classes correct, you take at least one true big man every year also.
As we all know it doesn't always work out that way![]()
I have been absent in my following recruiting. What is the deal with Groce and La Lumiere? Seems like he has something very strong established there considering his two biggest recruits have come from there.

Zilch, other than physique. Kiir is a far, far better basketball player (albeit limited viewing in the clips I've seen). Would much rather have Kiir.
