I'm tempering my hopes and excitement about the OVs for Scruggs & Wilkes as I imagine we all are. But a couple cool things. The distance between Scruggs OV with Xavier grow each day and as far as we know we're still on the calendar for next weekend. And curious that the two of them had unofficials within a week of each other a little over a year ago. I know I know I could get more out of reading tea leaves, but here's to hopin'!

Just chatter on Twitter and has not been confirmed by anyone else, but for the Wilkes visit, it's possible that Tilmon, Williams, and Pickett will also be on campus.
Someone needs to do some photoshoppin' work of a poster that shows Frazier, Tilmon, Wilkes, Pickett, and Williams.

Is there really any reason to get excited about Scruggs or Wilkes visits? I mean our odds have to be close to zero right?

Long shot, maybe. But if you get a visit, you've got a shot. Why would Wilkes visit if we had zero chance? That would be a waste of his time. Its not like we are a free trip to Hawaii.

Yeah, we may not be odds on favorites but we still have a punchers chance.

I said this a couple weeks ago. I'm holding out for these two unapologetically. That was before Frazier. Now we're just trying to have our cake and eat it too

Have to agree with others. If the odds were zero they wouldn't be making the short trip over to champaign for an official visit. They likely have very legitimate interest. No real reason to think either are substantially likely but who really thought JCL was all that likely until right before it went down. The basic thought is no one really thought UI was really in the hunt with either, then they named their lists and it seemed like maybe a courtesy listing. then OVs were scheduled and no one really thought they would stay uncommitted until they stepped foot on campus. Now it is looking like they will be on campus and really all things become possible when a recruit is on campus.

We are on a roll in a lot of ways and have a better shot than normal imho.
A monster recruiting class so far doesn't hurt interest from the big boys. Can imagine Tilmon, Scruggs, and Wilkes have thought about how powerful their trio could be so close to home. Is it naive to think they are almost an elite 8 team all by themselves?

Looks like Scruggs is enjoying his UCONN visit.

Illinois is trending up and it's no secret. Even the most bonafide Illini haters can't deny it at this point. There's a wave to ride !

Have to agree with the others. They wouldn't waste their time visiting if there was no interest. Whether it's a 2% change or a 20% chance I don't know, but it's definitely above 0.

I wouldn't say naive but bringing in a talented recruiting class is only part of the puzzle. Certainly puts us in a position to compete at that level. I would temper expectations during any classes freshman year though.

Okay to eat my own words I kid you not I had a dream last night that...
Scruggs, who was also called gluey, came in for his official visit he walked straight over to Groce and whispered something in his ear. Later on in the visit I sat down with him and he asked a bunch of questions and he wanted to know what the playing time situation was like. I explained to him that there were would be 2 others he would be competing for but I was no reason why he couldn't win the job from day one. Then I broke down the potential starting line up if he and his buddy Wilkes joined the fray:

PG - Sruggs(Fr)
SG - JCL(JR)
SF - Wilkes(FR)
PF - Black(RS-JR)
C - Tilmon(FR)

Somewhere in there the dream ended but holy cow was it vivid and I really believed we had a shot. Who wants some orange kool-aid!

All we need now is for the Schmidt bros write an article emphatically starting that there's no chance of getting these guys. Then I'll be officially excited...

Evan Daniels ‏@EvanDaniels 3m3 minutes ago Kentucky, USA 2017 song Jermaine Samuels is headed to Villanova. Significant pull for Jay Wright, Villanova.

Not sure what a song is, but last 5 CBs were for Duke. So yeah, nice get for Wright. Probably not good news for Justin. But not saying it makes it any better for us.

It will be interesting to see if Samuels commitment will cancel a Nova visit for JSmith om Sept 17th??:)

Ahrens brother is currently @ MSU, just goes to show that it's not out of the question that the Fimke's could split up.

Finke's dad told me decision is up in the air. Tm is his own man.

I'll understand if he opts for another school (much clearer path to early playing time). That said, I very much want a top 50-ish 6' 6-7" SG in the fold.
