WMU -1.5, mortgage your house on WMU, and don't believe one word about the narrative that emerges after we lose. This is just the rottenest possible scheduling luck. WMU is not a MAC team.

O-line should have a better time opening routes for Vaughn and Foster. Coaching staff rides this to take the ball out of Lunt's hands and we pull away in the 3rd quarter.
Or how about when NIU was the best D1 football program in the state of Illinois? And best of all it's a MAC school.Looks like the line opened at Illinois -1 and has already blown up to WMU -3.5
Here's all I'm saying: Do not think of WMU as a MAC school. Get that association completely out of your head before, during, and especially after this game. Their talent level does not even bear a passing resemblance with even very good MAC teams of the past.
Think of it like, say, Temple or Cincinnati were coming to town. That's a better heuristic.

They beat a garbage NU team by 1 point that lost to an FCS team. Let's keep things in perspective. They are a MAC team. That was a really deep, experienced, well coached team. Not even on the same radar screen talent-wise.
"MAC" means something. This WMU team is not that thing, period, end of story. This is an AAC or Mountain West team, and a good one.
(You might also compare them to a gutter Power Five team in terms of talent, but those teams usually aren't as experienced in a system as these guys are. They'd beat the hell of of Kansas.)

I don't know what to think about this game until we know what's up with Megginson and Day. Any updates there? Two positions we could not afford injuries in...
From what I'm seeing on twitter, both are listed on the depth chart for WMU, with Megginson starting.
Since this is our guys' third game in the new system, I expect us to improve every game just by knowing the system better than the previous week. Less thinking, more instincts. But still, this is only game 3 vs. a really good football team.
We can win, but the Defense will have to be sound and the O line needs to maul. I've been looking forward to this game since we hired Lovie. Anxious to see where we're at in week 3 against a quality opponent that's on a similar level as us.
Lovie: "It's a lot harder coming here after a loss than a win. But there's a lot of football left."
Lovie breaks the seson into quarters. We still have the chance to go 2-1 in the first quarter.
Lovie: Didn't play well enough to win but we'll learn from the win. We already have.
Lovie: WMU is a good football team. We knew this will be a game to truly measure how far we've come
Lovie: Won't be talking about injuries early in the week.
Lovie: We'll move on from that game. We learned an awful lot
Lovie: WMU has an offensive system they believe in. And they run it well. Run some option. Have a good RB, great WR and special OL
Lovie: We don't need a lot of motivation. lost last week. That's motivation enough. I don't see Ui being underdogs to many at home
Lovie: A loss is a loss. NFL losses feel a certain way. College losses feel the same way.
Lovie: More disappointed in the loss after watching the video. After a loss, you can't wait to get back on the practice field
Lovie: Some of the things we saw in the game we haven't seen in practice. Now that we have, we can make those corrections.
Lovie: Not going to scrap what we're doing or our players or coaches.
Lovie on fixing penalties: You identify it and correct it. The ones after the play have to be avoided, we won't put up with it.
Lovie: I've liked Carroll Phillips since he's been here. He's a legit outside pass rusher. Like all of us, he'd like few plays back
Lovie: We'd like to finish the game strong, more than anything.
Lovie: Would like to have OL stay together, get chemistry. But I've never seen it happen. You have to adjust.
Lovie: OL has "done OK." Our team is 1-1. Says you've done things well but not perfectly. Anxious to see the next step.
Lovie: We didn't tackle well at times and didn't keep WRs in front of us well enough.
Lovie: We put a big emphasis like everyone on getting off the field on 3rd down. Have to stop teams on 3rd and long. Disappointed.
Lovie: Not a good thing to turn the ball over and not to take the ball away.
Lovie: Lunt will bounce back. I was critical of myself. Everyone should have been not happy about their play. Wes is a part of that.
Lovie: Our fans were great. We saw it. That just kind of shows you what it will be like here in coming weeks and years.
Lovie: We should have a bad, terrible feeling deep down inside until we play the game next week. That's a good thing. Motivation.
