Out of curiosity, has a single one of our recruits with multiple Power Five offers not had Thad Ward as their lead recruiter?

All of the kids out of St. Louis and South Florida did. Smalling?

We need two more Thad Ward's on this staff going forward.

We need wins and full houses more. Ward's doing yeoman's work though, no doubt. If we can cultivate an atmosphere like we had for the NC game, that will be a big draw. Shedding our Loser-ville image and replacing it with a legit division contender (for starters), and we're on our way.

Well, that's not happening without recruiting upgrades. This is not chicken and egg.

Penetrating observation, thank you. We are recruiting a better grade of prospects. Impossible to judge the class now, but I'm pretty optimistic recruiting is headed in the right direction.

I think McGarigle and Williams are the most like to be replaced in the offseason for this reason.

The holdovers from the previous staff, yeah. Seemed clear at the time that we just weren't able to go and get the guys we wanted at every spot in March which is totally, totally understandable.

The other thing to keep an eye on is, Mike Phair is going to be awash in college DC and NFL DL coach offers, and with all his guys graduating, his iron probably isn't getting any hotter. It might be tough to hold onto him regardless of how much we're willing to pay.

Any ideas on visits this weekend? Maybe we can get Jeff Thomas in since he had to bail on Saturday vs UNC.

Would be a big pickup. Will need a lot of help on the line next year.

Ricky Smalling is absolutely killing teams in his Senior year. Every game it seems like he's just putting up serious stats.

Very exciting for him to be in an Illini jersey next year. The kid can play.

Man.. This class really has to be respectable. I get it that we're behind and 2018 will be the first good looking class... but we need talent in a hurry.

Every incoming freshman next fall should start.

VERY important that Smalling and Green don't decommit because they've got to start next year, absolutely. Them and Dudek. This group here currently makes zero plays, they're killing us.

Lamar is a rarity but I think most of us would happily take someone with half his talent

After witnessing yesterday in person, and knowing what we are losing after this year. I hope that we are recruiting the hell out of the JUCO ranks and that our admissions office will let these kids in.

We need a QB, RB, WR, and two OL on offense.

And on defense we need two DE, two DL, a LB and. Safety.

12 kids . Please UI admissions , let us get 12 JUCO kids .

We need this for depth and respectability on the field next year And as many that can come in for the spring semester to back fill scholarships and create class balance the better.

I kind of think this is going to be the way it is for the next 3 or 4 years. I do not think Lovie will just recruit a kid to sit out his first year till we have got more talent If you look we have next to no one in the 2 deep that are JR or soph
