State Farm Center Renovation

Is there like one last push to wipe everything down and get it all nice and clean when they're done?

It must be dusty in a lot of areas, right?

Everyday workers are doing this. They had a small crew today in, mopping the seating area's and out in the concourses where the work is finished.

Is there a replay of that 155 to 155 game? That would be fun to watch. Beats the quadruple over time games I saw against Mich yrs ago in AH and the one against Misery in STL.

Can't tell if serious...

Come on newbie, get with the program! :D We've had very little to talk about round here of late and the lull causes all the wannabe comics to come out of the closet to try and help pass the time. Sometimes they hit the mark and we have a little fun going back and forth with ridiculous musings. Sometimes they miss completely and they pretty much get totally ignored. We're all just trying to pass the time. :thumb: The season is nearly upon us!! :hailtotheorange: :shield: :illinois: :ah:

(If you think this is silly fun, just wait until you've experienced a couple of Illinois Loyalty Late Night episodes!!!)

Wasn't there going to be mini video ribbons over all the exits? I thought I remembered them saying that a year ago. Anyone know if this is still happening?

Looks like a bunch of our players and Nunn ended up transferring to MSU, where I'm sure they'll win a championship for Izzo.

Given a tour of the SFC on Saturday by Warren Hood and some guy named Josh, along with a small UIF group.
Scoreboard is really big. ;-) The 4 corner panels were on the floor--not yet installed. Basically blue metal panels with a large Block-I near the top.
Mostly toured the lounge areas--Legacy Club, Club 53 (oh yeah, Mr 53 was on the tour too) and the Krush. Framing up, but no pictures yet, in the hallway & into the Krush area which will have pictures documenting the history of Krush.
Hall of Fame room is very cool.
HVAC for the SFC cost approx $35M out of the $169 total.
Actually a little under budget and why they had a little extra to pay for the E & W scoreboard replacements.

End of the tour was the bball locker rooms and a showing of the Memorial Stadium renovation video on the HUMONGOUS projection screen in the common area. Impressive. And a nice pep talk from that Josh guy.

Had a chat with Adam Marantz a month or so ago. Complete waste of time.

I just want to say that the architects, construction crew, and project manager are to be saluted for an excellent job on this renovation. On time, under budget just doesn't happen very often. Great work!

And a big thanks to ilphotog for documenting all of it for us.

Well today (Wed) will be shoot #105 and probably the last one of the renovation of the SFC. I will do a final shoot of every part of the building this winter. In a way it's a little sad that it's ending, even though it's been nearly three years since my first shoot, the time has gone by fast.
I've spent the past couple hours going though many of the old files, it's really amazing to look back and see everything from the demolition to the actual construction and now the final product.
The project is technically finished, but there will be a few small things that will get finished up in the next few weeks.

Today's visit - A couple new things from today, in the Main West entrance area, two new video screens are up, probably have the same things on it as the marquee out near first street. Lots of cleaning being done all over the place, including the windows.
New signage is being installed all over the upper and lower concourses, now its a little easier to remember where you are in the building.
The panels for the Krush Club still are not in, not sure when they will arrive, could be any day etc.
There is nothing major left to do, the new video panels that will go up on the East and West sides are not due in for a few more weeks, these were a late addition add on. Other than that it's mainly small cosmetic things left to finish, and hopefully nothing unexpected pops up when the go full throttle on the 27th.
In the upper concourse on the backside of the restrooms and concession stands, they are putting up photo's of all the sports and prominent players. These photo's are done in Orange and Black.

New photos up. Looking good. Hoping for some more wall graphics, etc in the various rooms (ready room, locker room, lounges) but it really has come a long way.

caption nits:
1.) 5th picture--paneling is outside the common area between locker rooms. You can see the orange & blue painted round wall of one of the locker rooms beyond that.
2.) 12th pic--those are 5 separate interactive screens for fans to look up a variety of historical things.
3.) Should be fairly obvious--the 1st picture is of the inside of the common area between locker rooms.

FYI:
1.) 2nd pic--You can sorta see the scoreboard corner pieces--lying flat on cart (mostly under pink bubble wrap) in the lower left of pic. One seems to be lying on the floor by the lower right corner of the scoreboard.
2.) 6th pic--will have player name-plates above each locker, eventually, in that empty space between the ceiling & the lockers.
3.) 9th pic--can see framing for Krush pix in upper left.

These are from two weeks ago, photo #5, the white cinder block wall on the right, is now blue on the bottom and Orange on top. That was a surprise today.
