Awesome! Thank you, Josh. Since my father-in-law has an honored jersey (he's front and just left of center in this photo), this has been pretty important for our family. I asked Josh when the honored jerseys were going back up when he came to Rockford for our Illini Club event in November. His response was, "Good question. I hadn't thought about it since the reno." Then I saw Josh a week later as I walked with Kenny Battle into the IHotel for pregame before the NW football game. Kenny asked the same question. Josh said he was working on it. This man just gets things done. I called my 88 year old mother-in-law to tell her the news, and she was thrilled. :hailtotheorange:

Seeing posts like yours makes me sad at what a failure Illinois athletics has been of late. There are people like you all across the state--in Rockford, the Quad Cities, City of Chicago, Chicago Suburbs, Metro East, and of course Central Illinois--people with deep and passionate roots to the University of Illinois and its athletics tradition.

When Illinois has been great, it has been led by instate legends from all across the state. Over the last 10-15 years, we have increasingly seen the best players in almost every sport go out of state, while Illinois athletics, for the most part, have been dismal. Team from the past like the '83 Rose Bowl football team and the '89 Flyin' Illini and 2005 basketball teams have rallied people from all over the state the way only sports can seem to do.

With everything going on in Illinois, we desperately need something to get excited about again from Illinois basketball and/or football. And because things have been so bad for so long, so much apathy has set in that just being competitive again is not going to cut it.

[Depressing rant over]

I notice that this area is exactly the same this year as in previous years. If anyone has connections at the State Farm Center or with DIA - can you just request that they find a way to cover these seats up?

I know they are folded in for expansion for other events, but they look terrible. On every highlight and every game, they look like a bright orange row of EMPTY seats - even though that is not the case. It's just a bad look for that part of the court, and makes the band area look like an afterthought.

And the reason the seats cannot be used during a game is what?

Looks like your feet would be dangling in space. I believe during certain events there are temp bleachers that butt up to the those seats that would extend all the way down to the floor.

I agree with Peace, they should put an Illini blue tarp over them during ball games.

Yeah, either cover them or remove them to make the section more aesthetically appealing.

That section of seats is retracted for the band. The row you see "suspended", when the other seats slide out, those seats are the top row seats of that section.
