QB Alin Edouard is currently at Independence CC in Kansas. Former Syracuse signee has already been offered by the Illini (from Dade County originally). I don't really see Lovie being someone willing to take a risk on a questionable character guy such as De'Andre Johnson. Edouard probably was recruited by McGee out of high school and most likely has his class work in order.

He was a backup on his JC team and I think we more or less stopped recruiting him awhile ago. Don't think he holds an offer anymore.

He was quite renowned for doing that with the Bears actually.

Is Johnson a person of poor character, or is he just someone who made the kind of horrible error in judgement that is all too common among his peers but had the misfortune of there being really good video of the incident?

I dunno, it's a tough thing.

Good points for sure. The lack of interest from other programs in Johnson leads me to believe that this was more than just a horrible error in judgment. But that is just making an assumption.

I'm starting to believe we may be content with Crouch/George/Thomas into next year...not that I agree with that, but that is starting to look like more of the plan. It appears Lovie would rather add another athlete somewhere else than carry a fourth scholarship quarterback.

Regarding De'Andre Johnson and his assault at the bar. I'm not condoning his behavior, but if you watch the video, she threatens him first and puts up a fist to punch him. He grabbed her fist to keep her from punching him and she threw a left jab. He countered in probably a reactionary way. I'm not saying what he did was right, but what he did was not unreasonable either. And we don't know what the young woman said. I'm guessing it wasn't friendly banter.

I think the young man deserves a second chance.

He most certainly deserves a second chance, without question, all of these kids do. It is just very odd that his recruitment has been very minimal up to this point. Maybe that changes in the next couple months.

The fact that he's currently being filmed for a documentary also adds a bit of weirdness to the whole thing.

I'll bet you a million internet points that's not true.

Reading between the lines, with the momentum/interest from Jeff Thomas/Roberson, don't you have to think Lovie is selling them something besides Crouch/George? Not sure if I was a 4 Star WR that I would be interested in IL if there wasn't a possible addition coming into the mix.

Not sure what happened with him. Some said injury but with a team void of pass catchers he fell off the planet.

Illinibirds of the free board saying we have landed our 5th year transfer QB.

Saw that and was hoping to see something on here. Is he normally a pretty reliable source? I haven't spent much time on that board lately.

How many mobile 5th year transfer QBs are out there and why wouldn't they make it public? Does he have a bowl game to play in?

He used to break a lot of big basketball stories. Haven't seen him around in years though. Interesting he came out of the woodwork to post that

Could it an FCS QB?

5th year transfers don't commit, right? I mean, they don't sign anything and a lot of them stay at their old school for the 2nd semester to finish their studies. Wasn't Neal still attending Illinois last semester?

Well, to be a grad transfer you need to be a grad. :D

I think Neal stayed because he had classes left to take in order to graduate. If there's a QB who was able to graduate at the end of this semester then he could probably xfer and start attending classes in January.
