Depaul is leading at Villanova by 1 at the under 4 timeout

Looks like NU is going to win at IU. I don't even know what to think of that. Just seems weird. Is IU that suspect, or is this just one of those flukes?

Villanova hangs on.. Depaul had a good look to tie at the buzzer

Loss on the road at Maryland definitely better than a home loss to Nebraska

Morrow and Watson who supposedly weren't good enough for Illinois looking real good at Nebraska.

Wow! Way to go Huskers! Always great to see the Hoosiers go down. I STILL fully expect us to go there and get embarrassed by 35 or more next week. Absolutely zero confidence in our team. I may change my prediction in our matchup with Nebraska now, too.

I saw a pocket of conversation yesterday regarding the end of the Oregon / UCLA game and the court storming that the Oregon fans did after the 3 pointer, thinking the game was over, when in fact there was .8 or .9 seconds left. They managed to get everyone off the court to finish the game, but there were those (Bill Walton, of course) that thought there should have been a technical foul on Oregon for delay of game. My personal feeling is that the clock showed 0.0 and the fans reacted to that and they shouldn't have been penalized. I hate court storming as a general rule, but I think the refs acted appropriately by just letting the game continue as/is.

Any thoughts?

I agree with you. Walton was just pissed that UCLA was about to lose.

see the point but most conferences are suppose to have procedures in play to keep from storming the court. In addition, it was the home school's timekeeper that made the mistake. The clock is suppose to stop when the ball goes through the net. What would have happened (and they discussed this a little) if UCLA would have inbounded the ball (because the clock should have stopped) and the player with the ball / going for the ball / etc. hits a fan?

Nobody thought Morrow wasn't good enough, it was a matter of need and interest. He would have been redundant with Leron in the class ahead of him, and do we even know if he had any interest in us? It's not like we straight up didn't go see any of his games, the opportunity was there for the kid if he was truly interested in UI, but he's from Lincoln, both his parents are Nebraska alums, and he was only in chicago to increase his bball exposure. All public accounts were that the family wasn't very happy there and wanted to go back.

As for Watson, he's the classic bird in the hand, but it's hard to fault the staff for going after Evans and Brunson. Wish we had him though

The refs control the clock, not the clock operator at the bench.

No, the belt packs they wear do both functions. The clock operator is a backup option.

So your saying the official is going to be able to watch and call the game, make a call and then reach around and find the button to push so they can stop the clock? I don't think so.

I believe that WVC is correct. I remember reading about this several years ago when there were a lot of timing issues in the NCAA tournament because they did not use this system while most conferences have this during the regular season.

I am not sure but the whistle wouldn't blow on a made basket. I thought I had read as well (at least in the NBA) that the clock was controlled, for the most part, by the officials (not the shot clock though). However, I don't think the refs would be stopping it after a made basket... they have other things they are watching?
