Not giving Groce a pass, he is now playing his recruits.
I haven't enjoyed watching Illinois basketball since Groce's first year
I think McCamey was a good guard, but he was hampered by a coach and a system. While I agree that we have not had a great guard under Groce, that is certainly not the only issue. I know it's probably not what your suggesting, but we can't give Groce a pass just because he hasn't gotten the guard that helped his run in the NCAA at Ohio.
the only "dog" games where i think we have a shot are @psu, @iowa, @NW, but i wont commit to thinking we can win a couple of those until i see a decent road performance from this team
BP3 and Dj?
Leron had a good game. He would have easily had a double double if not for the foul trouble
14 points
6-10 FG
2-2 from 3
9 rebounds
1 assist, 1 turnover
4 fouls
We really need to get contributions from him in the second half. We keep getting a really nice spark out of the gate from Leron, but then he goes invisible. I think he had 11 in the first half today, and a 3 in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd, right? I'm not really sure why that seems to continue to happen, not implying it is a fault of Leron's.
I feel sorry for Tracy, he came in on fire and looked like he was going to be a difference maker. I just wonder if he is getting worn down by by having no faith in the system anymore. It probably takes a toll on a man who has worked so hard to get back to the game.
A good point guard makes everybody better, we don't have one right now.
Well I asssume Leron didn't do well because he was in foul trouble most of the second half.
Please. :hand: More like TA has no faith in his own game anymore.
Absolutely, but I never saw them as PG's. I thought of both of them as 2's and BP3 as a 2/3 because of his athleticism. Still, yes, good guards.
I didn't realize we were only talking point guards. True about Mccamey then.
First tweet from halftime, second from postgame. It really is incredible, and numbers like these are why we see NUMEROUS 4-8 minute droughts throughout the season every freakin season regardless of personnel. I really hate this scheme.
It is pretty simple, the Illini lack the ability to consistently take the ball to the basket. They are a jump shooting team. That includes 3s and the midrange. When those fall like Michigan we look great. If so fall like the first half we look fine. When they don't it is easy to double the post and watch us miss. We lack the ability to create off the dribble which limits us. It basically means this team will be up and down offensively.
