I think toohot4tots was just a little behind celebrating Dorsey.

"Purdue commit Griffin Alstott (son of great Mike Alstott) at Illinois tonight visiting. Lovie/Mike Alstott connection."

Found this on Twitter. He's a QB. Makes a lot of sense. Was wondering when we'd try to recruit another QB for this class.

Fits the profile. Good frame, live arm, good speed.

Not elite top-end speed, but a really good burst of quickness. I also like how he seems natural at keeping his eyes downfield on scrambles.

You can see why he'd be nervous about Brohm as he's definitely a dual threat. Is he a fit in that offense? He's certainly a fit in ours.

I didn't watch the whole thing, and I don't pretend to know enough about football, but he looked like a high school Aaron Rodgers. Escaping pressure and hitting a pass. Fast enough to make something happen by himself if he needs to. Good arm. Yes please.

Middle of January and this is the only thread I can stand on this site. Credit to Lovie and the staff. Great haul for 17, which gives me even more hope for 18.

he is also a kicker and a punter, so killing 3 birds with one stone if we get him . then see where he fits best kind of thing maybe

Just to show it's not all roses for Fleck/Minny, they lost one of their better recruits to Baylor this morning:

Bryson Jackson

I am not in charge so it doesn't matter. Also, if we have extra scholarships it can't hurt. But I have no real interest in Alstott. We already have two QB's coming in. I would rather wait till next year to get either one of or both of Patterson or Taylor.

You go after Patterson and Taylor regardless. I think they need another short term option at QB with Thomas a very likely redshirt and the projected starter who has had trouble learning a playbook not here until potentially August now.

I agree with you. I would rather they bank this scholarship but it appears that they want to replace the three QBs that were lost (Peters, Fitzgerald, Lunt) since the last recruiting cycle.

At least Alstott appears to be a better fit for McGee's offense than JGJ.

He looks like a good athlete who can scramble within the pocket and can pick up some yards on the ground as well.

A 5th year transfer would make more sense, but now that Lawson is in the picture, we're not a terribly appealing destination.

Palczewski is easily the most important prospect left on the board, followed by RR and {pick a DE}, so really need to hope the staff closed that one.

I would say Zion Bedoze is the most important recruit left on the board. I think he would start across from Carney next year. I don't know if Brian Edwards is an actual option but I think he and Roberson are more important. Depending on Dudek, I think Roberson could be a starter next year with Smalling and Malik

Definitely a better fit for us than Brohm. I could really see Brohm not being interested as he appears to need a fair amount of work throwing the ball. I would think a passing team would definitely redshirt him and/or try to get him to switch positions.

I think Palczewski is a big deal, we can't lose an in-state recruit that we offered first to Cuse or Vandy, especially a guy who projects as well as him at OT. I can certainly see an argument for Zion DeBose being #2 (even #1, although I disagree), but that's going to be a really tough one to win considering the distance and the competition for him. Palczewski isn't one we should lose. DeBose and Harris are definitely the best DEs left on the board though. Landing one would be absolute huge.

I am just happy Harris's little brother came along for the trip. That can only help that relationship because he seems legit

Harris visiting ND next week. Seems like he's still open.

Signing day

With signing day approaching, how fun is it going to be to see the entire class and our class's national ranking. You have to take it all with a grain of salt but it'll be fun to benchmark vs the last 10 years or so. Can't wait to see how it all ends and looking forward to welcoming the incoming class and seeing some spring ball soon. Football is fun again! :shield:

I know it is 2018 class but do we have a legitimate shot with Howard Griffith's son?
