CBC seems like the real deal. They played ESL earlier this year, right? I know we've spent a lot of time recruiting Babb and Trout of Chaminade. But beyond that, there doesn't appear to be much.

I lived in the metro east for 5 years and it didn't seem like St. Louis had a whole lot to offer in terms of HS football talent while I lived there. It still seemed like there were some good schools with good talent to offer. Now that Missouri is down maybe we'll have a chance with some of those players.

'19 does look like a better year in Illinois. There are some really good players in Central Illinois like Wright and Putnam. We have to get those kids.

Babb is the real deal and Illinois won't get him however his counter part Brown, He can ball as well. Babb is a 5 star and Brown is a 4 star. With Babb getting ALL the attention, now is a good time to show Brown as much love as possible. This would be the type of sleeper that turn some heads. This is the type recruiting I am talking about that should happen.

Trout maybe a long shot as well based on his desire to be "elite". Trout is a big kid however both D Lineman from E'ville this year were better. If you take Trout, you should have taken the kid from E'ville NG that is going to SIUC.

If they come in and bring everyone to specifically see him and ignore Babb, I am sure that will go a long way with that kid and land a top ball player.

Jeff Thomas just eliminated Illinois.

I'm not giving up on this one yet. IF we don't get him good luck to him where ever he goes. BUT till he is signed we still have a chance. Either way we are in pretty good shape at WR, if MD is fully healthy I'd say very good shape . I am still hoping for at least 2 OL, and 1 DT and a DB

I'm still happy with the WRs coming in. Good luck to him at whatever school he chooses.

We probably do have a good chance two years from now.

For anyone interested watched the tapes of de 's Singletary, Woods and fs Williams. Of the d ends one I would take no problem the other my head and gut says think about that a lot more.
Singletary is the guy I would welcome with no after thought.
He shows excellent st, power/ vg lateral quicks, and speed. His get off needs some work showing vg/ex burst. Included in the work for get off is included getting his head up pre snap for a better read. He hits like a truck at 215# and has a nice feel of nasty about him and he usually wraps up,. Nice length and looks to be able to reach up to 50 # more to make him scary as sde down the road. He has the quickness now for either wde or sde now.
He is list as 6' 4 215 I gave him a mid to high 3* rating with a 6.5
As for Woods he is listed as 6'3 240 .
He lacks initial qu twitch off the line compared to Singletary. I am extremely ncomfortable about saying this next part. Woods my be a candidate for the 3 tech need down the road. I am worried how 55 to 70# effects his speed and quickness. Example though he shows 25# heavier than Singletary he much less bang. Physically nothing truly jumped out for me save a very lite twinge in the back of my brain lined as a 3tech where he showed adequate qu and burst and some ability to adjust and apply some pressure in the backfield. If we were to take him I would expect to start out as sde and see what develops. He has sbg/vg tools all around sp, st, pow, qu. And I am being generous.
,
He received a low 3* rating with a 5.75,

Does it seem to you that he takes an initial hop-step before his full stride into his kicking motion? In HS they probably just let him do his thing. In college he may have to have that step coached out of him.

Or become good enough at it to be Le'Veon Bell.

Well you are wasting your time unless you are talking after Juco. By the way. I am still happy we got Knight.

I really like Knight as well I think he should make a very good SS would like to know his 40 time but, the kid is strong and loves to hit, and we need way more of that. Feg was really good but, we need guys back there like Swoop, who try to separate your head from your body when they hit you. No I wasn't talking after Juco, IF you were a kid that wanted to make a splash come signing day, and you really liked a school, how exciting do you think you would make fans if , you take them out of your top 3 then on signing day pick them ? Will it happen who knows, But sure would be a big and great surprise if it does.

Calibear, Thnx for the analysis. What do you think about Williams; you forgot to include it? He seemed to play really smart with great anticipation. Doesn’t seem particularly fast though. I have heard some safety. Any chance he could put on enough weight to be a OLB? What do you think about Pate? I really like his highlights. He looked like a 3-Technique DT to me and could be pretty good one. Staff doesn’t seem to be emphasizing him so I am probably wrong. Also, what are your thoughts about Palczewski. Probably my favorite OL. Seems really fast and I love his nasty streak. (Sorry, don't know how to quote. It won't let me so I must be doing something wrong.)

Great analysis as always. Thanks Cali!

It seems like we are offering a number of guys who are 6'4 - 6'5 and 210-215 lbs (Singletary, Roundtree, Harris) and guys who are 6'3 230-240 (Debose and Woods) at DE. I'm guessing Carney and Oladipo will be our true Freshmen that are on the depth chart at DE this fall. It will be intersesting to see if the staff wil RS guys like Woods or Debose (if they come here). I'm guessing a guy like Singletary will not be ready until 2019.

I wish Bagner would have a least visited us.

I, like you, wish they'd offer another DT like May but it seems like we stopped pursuing DTs when Green committed.

What do you think of Knight? He's a little small but do you think he will stick at SS? Nelson seems to have locked down that position for the next few years.

Watching that vid I thought there was something odd about his approach to the kick. But he can sure knock the hide off that ball!
