The win at Gonzaga. The Indiana upset was just them falling asleep in a game they had won, that win in arena nobody wins at was the best 40 minutes of the Groce era.

His personality had sunk in, but his tactical direction hadn't. The sweet spot.
Making the hipster pick amongst options. There was no greater excitement during the Groce Era than knocking off Indiana when they were #1. Runner up vs. Colorado in the NCAA Tourney, 3rd place goes to Maui Tourney. Nothing after year 1 makes the top 3 in my opinion.

18.2% from 3
381.% overall shooting
63.6% from the line
Gave up 12 OREB...not a huge number (same as us), but they all seemed to be at key times.
JCL 0-8 from 3, 0-10 overall

All I can say is that KN and TJL make a nice core for our new coach.

Minny actually tried to choke with bad shots in the final 8, but we hung tough and out choked them.

And I know Zaga was also year 1, for the record.

Just gonna sit here and wait for someone to say Groce deserves one more year

It's a good thing we excused looking as horrible as we did last year because of all those injuries last season and gave him another year! Same conference record through 12.

Beating IU when they were #1 and beating Colorado in the NCAA tournament. It's been all down hill since then.

I know we look back fondly on that post season because of the Miami game, but if memory serves that first game vs Colorado was UGLY. I think we had a decent 1st half and built a lead, then couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the 2nd

Speaking of that Colorado game, is there anywhere I can rewatch it online? I've been looking for it but had no luck.

Are there stats available that show the shooting percentage of the Illini during Groce's time here? It has to be near the bottom of the B1G and probably some kind of record bad stretch of 5 years.

I'm going to need to see a note from your physician before I show you those stats. I don't want to be responsible for any Trouble.

This is the end today and I hate to see it, somebody has got to keep this class and get Mark Smith too. I simply don't understand the lack of effort, ridiculous! I don't care who the coach is a guy playing Division I Basketball should be laying it all on the line every game. We even play a lot of players so there is absolutely no excuse for the pitiful defensive effort I can't imagine in a must win putting forth that effort. Nichols is a bright spot for the future

I have been telling everyone from day one that Kipper was our SG of the future. He is not a power forward as many ill informed folks have stated. JCL needs to work on his overall game in the offseason.

Can't blame the coach for the kids missing all of those wide open shots, but at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter. Nail meet coffin.
