And there it is. I sincerely hope that people aren't rejoicing, even if it is agreed it was the right decision.

Whitman's exit statement is classy, him and John seemed to really click and he wanted John to succeed badly. Unfortunately it didn't materialize.

John Groce is nothing but class, and a great person. Sorry that it never worked out, but a change was definitely in order.

I feel bad for Groce.

But I feel good about the direction of the athletics program. I'm excited to see what happens next.

Great news for the program! JFG represented the school very well and I wish he could have succeeded, but that's part of his profession and why he gets paid well. I wish him the best at his next stop as long as it doesn't impact us in any meaningful way.

Now the speculation can truly begin on the next coach!!

You can rejoice all you want, I was just hoping no one would. Not about the money. A class guy who loves the Illini just got canned, it should be a moment of reflection, disappointment that it didn't work out and hopefulness for the future. But I'm certainly not dictating what people should feel.
