Jank's SMU squad just ran roughshod over Cincy winning their conference tourney rather convincingly. They'll be 30-4 going into the tourney.

Sent from my XT1526 using Tapatalk

They've had a great season but with Jank's two biggest assets (Brown and Howard) gone im not optimistic that he can rebuild that roster after this season

Ok with intreging interest I have been following the coaching search here and I must admit there are some good names being tossed around. Now I am not a expert, I also do not post much on here but I do have to wonder. Why do we have to hire one of these coaches mentioned on here?

Don't have to hire any of those names. But, about the only names that have not yet been floated about are Michael Jordan, Ozzie Guillen, and Chance the Rapper. However, all of these guys do have decent name recognition and they all could recruit Chicago.

I've actually heard a little bit of buzz in this direction, and he definitely didn't get proportionate discussion in our Carousel thread.

It is totally not his fault that Mo Watson got hurt.....but boy would I like that resume more if they had finished the year as the Top 10 team they looked like when they had him.

His greatest ever coaching moment was, uh, reproductive in nature, y'know?

I am formally going on record as being extremely disappointed if Cuonzo is hired at this point. Just not sold on his potential.

Fathering Doug.

Again he was a 28% winner in 4 years in the Big 12.

To the people tracking flights and posting about them..... The flights to Omaha, Wilmington, etc yesterday DID NOT HAPPEN. Here is CMIs flightaware page. Yesterdays flights were under SCHEDULED DEPARTURES.

https://flightaware.com/live/airport/KCMI

DEPARTURES is what to look for!!!!!

Plane identitys that begin with FSR are FlightStar planes, which are the planes that coaches, AD will use. Shad Khan owns FlightStar. This is also another plane that is supposedly owned by Khan not under Flightstar. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N816FG

You, my friend are REALLY good!!. N816FG was used in the volleyball search.

As a point of reference, here are some names and what they were making as of May 2016.

Marshall $3 million
Scott Drew and Larry K $2.5 million
Tony Bennett $2.1 million
Cuonzo Martin $1.5 million
Chris Mack $1.1 million
Archie Miller $690K
Keatts $350K
Bryce Drew $285K

You're low on Miller I read 1.1 based on recent tax returns. Regardless if he wants to move we still need to open up the checkbook.

A couple other points on Marshall. When Alabama threw big money out 2 years ago, Marshall said he doesn't like the stress and he's only coaching 8-10 more years. He also said his family loves Wichita and he may stay until he retires.

That certainly would be the path of least stress for Marshall.

You people are smoking some strange weed if you think Marshall is on the candidate list. Yes, Whitman would love to hire him, but he isn't taking Illinois phone call. A complete joke to say otherwise. Stop talking about him, it will NEVER, EVER happen.

Sorry to keep beating the drum for Kruger, but I think did an amazing, and yet under rated job in his time here. You all debate whether Weber and Groce left a more bare cupboard, you should look back and see what Kruger inherited, and what he left for Self. NO ILLINI COACH HAS DONE SO MUCH WITH SO LITTLE IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. You younger guys need to go back and read a bit, and you will see how both Kruger and Self built the program that Weber took to the finals. As for the idea that Kruger didn't want to be here... He left Florida - whom he took to the final four - to be here, and he left us for a NBA paycheck w/o having to recruit. As I recall it came down to he and Izzo for the Hawks job. I sure never got the idea that he didn't want to be here. He left a great situation for us, and he left us for an even greater situation.

Lon Kruger left a great school in a great location that he took to the final four, to come here with an empty cupboard. The reason we don't appreciate him more is that he turned it around so quickly, and set us up for fantastic success after him.

I don't disagree that he is a good coach and we got him to come to CU, even when the cupboard was bare. I also hold no ill will toward the man for wanting to leave for the NBA. What I am saying is 1) he jumped programs after four years (was a journeyman and will always be a journeyman, albeit a good journeyman) and 2) he thrived exclusively on downstate players. Lastly, Kruger did very little to build the team that Weber took to the finals five years after Kruger headed to Atlanta. I think you're giving him a bit too much credit.

He most definitely is on the candidate list. Now will he come? Probably not but who knows.

1. Why wouldn't he take a phone call? Wichita State just got slighted (again), and Illinois is one of the top 20 jobs in the country.

2. It's legal to smoke where I'm at, so what business of yours is it if and what I'm smoking? :)

It may be a long shot. But I think it is a stupid statement to say there is no way. You need to check it out and offer a great package. I think there is a chance and if you just want to hire someone you can get then Brian Cook is ready.
