A couple pages back, someone listed "Josh's Supposed Top 3" in order.
1. Monty
2. Archie
3. Bryce
My question, is there any benefit to putting a list like this out there? I only see neutral or downside. If you get Monty, ok, but how do the other candidates feel? And what if you don't get Monty, is Archie ok being 2nd choice? Sorry, I was just thinking about earlier and was hoping someone else could explain the benefit. I realize that this likely didn't come straight from Josh.

POTD-Post of the decade!!
I know, time for a new username.
Across Illinois boards there seems to be an anti-NBA hate factor - there is no coaching, no player development, no strategy, etc...All of that is 100% not true. There is a reason guys like Pitino and Calipari tried it and came back to college with their tail between their legs. As a matter of fact, almost every NBA coach that has gone down to the AAA of coaching in college has done very well. People are acting like Monty has no coaching experience - not true, he was just in the major leagues. Or put another way - would you rather match up Xs and Os with Gregg Popovich or Greg Gard?

Any flight tracker news this morning?? Heard a grumble, just curious. I'm not smart enough to manage that!
We know that how?
The CMI to IND part or that it's owned by Shad?
I think the hang up is there just cause they're so different. X's and O's for offense and defense are relative to the league because the NBA is has crazy rules for helpside defense. Because of this the way offense can and do scheme their spacing is different than what you see in college. The NBA also has a shorter shot clock which really reduces offensive options, but is offset by the insane level of talent, which is obviously way higher than college.
Off the court, NBA players are adults. Professionals. They don't necessarily require life mentoring after their first year unless they seek it out. College students are learning how to become reasonable and professional adults. They need to be taught those habits every day. An NBA coach might not be used to doing that much off the court intervention, or quite frankly might not want to. I'm not saying this is true of Monty, but it's a legit concern anytime someone makes that jump.

Owned by Shad... and he put a block on it in the last day or 2. Flew from CMI to IND last night....
All true but as Keene's locks pointed out, I can't name too many former NBA head coach's that failed on the college level.

Who's in IND?
The ADs for Indiana and NCSU didn't fire established coaches to replace them with a relative unknown such as Keatts. Gottfried and Crean both have gotten their teams to the NCAAs most years, and that's not enough for those schools. They're each looking for a big name coach who they think can get them to the top of their conference and put banners in the rafters. Keatts doesn't check that box because this is his first year in the tournament. These schools aren't relegated to looking for a mid-major coach or the next up-and-comer. They need a name brand coach, and that's not Keatts at this point in his career.
I think Marshall to Indiana and I don't know who to NCSU, but it won't be Keatts, and I think Archie is holding out for tOSU so it won't be him.
Coach K was picked largely because he was an "outsider" to the players. In other words, he could sit someone on the bench and then didn't have to worry about them taking it personally and going off for 40 against him to prove a point. Do you honestly believe that Coach K is a better basketball coach than Gregg Popovich or Steve Kerr?
Marshall, maybe still Archie.
