I mean I know he's a PG but I wonder if BU would try Wong in the 2 hole?

 I'm sorry I crossed the line.

I never expected to see MLP on this board.

btw, Smith looking good. Gotta make sure the entire family is on board, as I guess that's the final roadblock.

I can't tell if this is a joke... but there is NOTHING racial about this. His last name (Wong) rhymes with a word in the English language (wrong), so someone made a mildly funny pun. ;) Man, some people just LOVE to be outraged :tsk:

That said, after following bball recruiting religiously for about 10 years, I've had to take a step back over the last couple years... but I LOVE the positive vibes around Underwood already on the recruiting front. Feels like 1 or 2 big commitments are coming soon... :shield:

I have not really followed recruiting much in the past. But I have sort of gotten hooked lately I think due to the Mark Smith saga becoming almost a soap opera. Can't turn my head away. Anyway, I have been reading the recruiting thread every day and notice all the offers BU has been making. Is this normal? Did Groce make all these offers? Or perhaps is it due to having 4 scholarships available? Perhaps that is more than normal? Thanks in advance.

He's kind of kept things on the down low. KU has visited him, but they're the only school I know of who had publicly reached out. The only chance he recommits is if we get Mark Smith, and that's still a very slight chance. I think that we wind up getting Smith this week, but honestly Jeremiah has really turned me off with his actions, and BU doesn't seem like a coach who wants to play games,Tilmon won't be back.

Getting away from the Wong issue...

I'm not sure I get this line of reasoning about Jeremiah's actions turning people off. From my vantage point, this seems to be a concern only when the player is highly ranked. Nobody is upset about Pickett, yet he essentially took the same exact actions.

You're an 18 year old second guessing perhaps the most important decision of your life...so what if he takes advantage of the coaching change to step back and have the opportunity to reassess where he wants to go? If he decides that Underwood is a coach he'd like to play for, then you take him back in a heartbeat. This doesn't seem to be a game, this seems to be a kid on the fence about a decision (with the factors influencing that decision have changed) who is also being pulled in several directions by the important people in his life. I couldn't imagine dealing with that as a high schooler.

If he wants to come back, awesome. But I guess it helps being rational about this when you know you have a talented coach that can adapt either way. We'll be pretty good next year, but we'll be better with Tilmon.

It is the April Evaluation period. Now and June/July are prime time for handing out rides. At times you will see the one off offer to a local kid during HS or a visit but the bulk of offers will be during the two big AAU eval periods.

What rubs me the wrong way about Tilmon's actions is this: He sends out a re-commitment to UI tweet and about 48 hours later he decommits.

Pickett didn't do that.

Edited addition -

I would also gladly welcome Tilmon back.

'Hearing rumblings of Tilmon & Smith committing to Illinois. That would be huge!'

Is this the rumblings that others are hearing? (I got this from my twitter feed, not a pay site)

What would everyone's reactions be if Tilmon re-re-committed in a joint announcement with Smith? I know JT's drama and rollercoaster recruitment have rubbed some people the wrong way, so from a PR standpoint for him, I think this would be a good play. Everyone couldn't help but be excited. I'd welcome him back.

Well said.....from what I have heard there is a lot of drama in his life right now, and that is tough for an 18 year old even when they are a 6'10 athletic freak of nature. IMO, BU will take him in NY second if he wants to come back.

I don't think that would be fair to Mark Smith. Give the young man his minute is what I say and if Tilmon wants to follow the next day then do it. Now if it was Mark's idea, then cool, otherwise I think he deserves his minute in the sun (there will be more to come but nothing in life is guaranteed).

Orange & Blue-induced seizures is what would happen.

The border rivalry would be ON....

He's welcome to come still as far as I am concerned but I would doubt every second of his commitment to the team.
