Feathery touch -- perhaps my favorite "descriptive term" in basketball. Keith Wilkes, David Wingate, Reggie Miller, Mark Macon, Calbert Cheaney, Chris Mullen, Keith Lee.......and perhaps even Kendall Gill after his Freshman year. Give me 2-3 of those type players any day!

That is a great term. I also like Loren Tate's old term to describe a hustling player: whirling dervish

First time I remember him using it was to describe Dennis Pace then Randy Crews. He's used it for those hustling, diving, defensive, quick handed players. Don't know why, but it always makes me smile.

It would be pretty cool if Cuonzo started to recruit kids that didn't already commit to another school

Wouldn't count on it, seems to be his specialty. What a scumbag...can you imagine what he would do if the transfer rule was changed?

Not too scummy -- kids decommitting from one school and recommitting to us is how we got Nunn, Black I think and Eboigbodin. Probably others through the years.

I think it's fair to say we are on the losing end of these type of recruitments though in the grand scheme of things

There's a huge difference in recruiting a kid before he decommits and after. Good Lord.

And please do not attempt to tell me Martin hadnt been working on this kid since he got the job. Just like Tilmon.

And he had committed to SLU Gordon on campus... No ethics at all with this guy.

Oh boy- if you can't see the difference between the recruitment of those guys versus what Martin does, I just am at a loss. Martin has no ethics.

This reads especially chilling to me given recent storylines out of Baylor.

Shows how easily a coach and University can put on a front for a recruit, and said recruit believe every word.

This is the new norm in the shady world of college recruiting. Hating on Martin is hating the player not the game.

Scott Drew was voted the most hated coach in college basketball by his peers because he portrayed himself as a shining Christian yet cheated constantly.

Now i remember Baylor with black. I seem to remember he backed off that commitment rather quickly and it was quite a while after that he chose Illinois.

Cuonzo on the other hand hired a coach that allowed him to take 2 recruits from Washington, recruited HEAVILY one of our recruits, and now has taken a guy from OSU and will end up taking one from SLU.

And this is all in what? 6 months?

Cuonzo is skeezy

No questioning that, they both are. Seems like Cuonzo is pulling out all the stops to be successful. I think he knows if he fails to make a good run again at a 3rd P5 school he will have serious trouble keeping/getting a coaching job he thinks he is worth.

We will see how well he can coach all these talented recruits.

Each time he pulls garbage like this it makes me want to embarrass them even more in December. I hope Underwood runs circles around Cuonzo.

Probably not a very sustainable model for Cuonzo. Usually reap what you sow.

No it's really not. Try to rationalize this kind of crap however you want but this isn't the "norm" in college basketball it's what select sleezeballs do recruiting wise. Sampson was one. Calipari use to be one (he doesn't need to anymore). Martin is another.

Plenty of good coaches out there that would tell a committed kid that they'd love to recruit him but he needs to decommit first.
