Seems strange that he is talking about a top 8 when he already has official visits lined up.

Well he started that bracket thing I think he just wants to finish it. I'd imagine he's really down to 4-5 schools at this point if not a definite top 3.

Oh boy- if you can't see the difference between the recruitment of those guys versus what Martin does, I just am at a loss. Martin has no ethics.

Just another reason why we should be thanking God that we have Whitman. The things that you can trust on him, I believe, is you will know he will do the best in his power to do:illinois: the best he can.;)

Nolley says he is committing on halloween

Also changed his official visit list - think UConn and OK State were dropped. Seems to like the state of Georgia.

Pretty weird (to me) he would want to do an OV to Tech, and would even consider Ga State. I'm sure he's been downtown many times and probably on campus of both many times already. The only difference in the campus' is they are on opposite sides of 75/85. But Tech actually feels like a college campus.

Even Georgia for that matter. Imo we seem like a clear cut winner in this recruitment.

Moralistic analysis (as opposed to legalistic analysis) of recruiting requires shared standards and it's questionable they exist or matter. What matters to the average fan is staying within the rules and winning. In sports, claiming the moral high ground pales in comparison to winning. In the end, players choose where they want to go, and if no rules are broken, that's pretty much the end of the story. Whether it is true or not, the belief that Martin is an unethical sleezebag who steals recruits is irrelevant to his career as long as he doesn't violate rules. The "ethics" of stealing players is pretty much in the eye of the beholder: sleezebag on one side; effective recruiter on the other.

Strange in that Flightaware has the Lear going from Willard to ATL this morning and back to Willard from ATL late this afternoon. That has to be "whole" staff right?? Somebody messin with us??

The fact that 3 of his 5 are in Georgia tells me that he's really interested in staying local. Even VA Tech isn't that far from Atlanta. About a 6 hour drive.

And Buzz Williams can definitely recruit.

We are definitely the best program on his list, but I don't see this as being an easy win for us.

While we have a better pitch than VA Tech, two visits in one day is not what a coach would want. Of course, from the Nolley's POV, they don't have to clean the house twice.

No recruiting battle is easy now a days. And I don't doubt Buzz, he can play the game. But I would be shocked if it was any of the Georgia schools, including GT.

Or that he knows where he wants to go and he doesn't want to continue travelling all over the U.S. and instead would like to see some other nearby schools just to say that he saw some other schools.

I'd imagine it, at worst, is really down to 2 schools including Illinois.

I think Illinois leads and wants to look at local schools one last time. Might be to satisfy coach, parents, friends. But I think he is going out of state.

No it's really not. Try to rationalize this kind of crap however you want but this isn't the "norm" in college basketball it's what select sleezeballs do recruiting wise. Sampson was one. Calipari use to be one (he doesn't need to anymore). Martin is another.

Plenty of good coaches out there that would tell a committed kid that they'd love to recruit him but he needs to decommit first.

Come on, lets not be naive. Funny that on the same night we have a dude who Lovie recruited from WKU who decommitted from WKU and committed to ILL the same night in Nate Hobbs. Hardly believe we could call Lovie a sleeze or claim that football is that different from basketball.

The truth is that this stuff about Martin is weak sauce and playing the blame game. Our fanbase is upset with him because of Tilmon, who in all honesty is not made to play for a coach like BWood because he is a lazy player.

Bottom line is that the NCAA has created a very sleezy environment and this is the cesspool that is NCAA basketball/any sport recruiting. I am so glad that Whitman hired Underwood because I think he is a better coach than C. Martin. I don't know either man personally and I think it is childish to act like our coaches are always saints and others not. JFG played the grey and I hope Underwood does too.
