The number of times I saw our guys breaking on defense when the ball was in the air as opposed to when it was caught. It looked like real defense for a while.

The targeting rule needs to change. It affects college football games almost every week. I understand why the rule was implemented, but every player should get a warning penalty first just like there is for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Mike Epstein looking goooood.

Although, I wouldn't mind seeing the carries spread out a bit more. Don't need our true freshman getting beat up when we have 2 other good RB's behind him.

Also would like to see more plays designed for Dorsey. He had that one 15ish yard catch and that's it. He should be a matchup nightmare in the future, especially in the redzone.

I have to be at work at 7am tomorrow but too pumped after being at this game to sleep. Crowd was great during the first half (people started to trickle out during the 2nd and mass exodus at the start of the 4th Q). Halftime show was easily the best I've ever seen at an Illini game.

Can we also talk about how great of a runner Epstein is? He just consistently makes good plays, great vision.

Anyone else notice that the BTN rarely cut to any commercial breaks? Especially in the first half.

I think the perfect example of why Lovie is a coach and we are not was the decision to punt while deeper into their side of the field. I would have probably gone for it, but then you don't pin them back in a hostile end zone and score that crucial pick-six. We could have at least gotten a safety or a punt with the ball back at the 50 with a little less than 2 minutes.

This game gave me some great confidence in Lovie. The differences from week one and two are staggering. Sure we may not be B1G ready, but I believe now we may cover against USF.

We saw a Lovie-coached team on the field tonight. It's a young team, and we won't win a whole lot more games this season, but Lovie coached the !!!! out of this group of young guys and we got the win. I am so happy with this coaching staff.

Crouch was good/effective... but competition is coming.

Go back and read some of the pregame predictions. You'll find it instructive.

Very positive sign seeing our 3 star freshmen playing like 5 stars. Shows that staff can recognize talent.

Tackling in space and pursuit tackling was very good last night. Good to see the quickness and fundamentals.

Roundtree and Gay were excellent but, also noticed our tackles getting some pressure up the middle especially in 2nd half.

Really impressed with defense all around. Good one on one tackling when we needed it too.

A warning? They have the warning. They need to just stop doing it.

Does anyone know where the referee crew for this game was from?
Usually, the crew is based on the road team. Since WKU is C*USA, then it should have been a C*USA crew.

As Lovie said, the freshman are undefeated in their college careers. Now let's see how long they can keep it going. This is the interesting point.

As others have said, I also saw a lot of loose ends from last week tightened up. Very good to see.

I also saw a few times when we typically, unexplainably, give up a score, and it did not happen. The team held together and made the plays to get over it.

That was the best scoring offense in the country last year, and our D held them to 0 points on 10 out of 11 possessions, and scored a TD themselves. Obviously WKU isn't as good as they were last year, but that's incredibly impressive from the D. The offense needs to start putting up more points, though.

So what's the over/under on # of all freshman big team members? I'm going to say 3. Lowe, Bennett, and Roundtree

Ye of little faith. There's a lot of mediocre teams in the West. We'll see how things go.
