Coach needs to do something to get this team to come out of the gates with their hair on fire. The team has the talent to win now. I am tired of moral victories, and they should be also.
I would think so. Told my friend that it's hard to understand starting slow every game, but starting same guys over and over.
Mark Smith has been a disappointment. I thought he would be in the conversation for B1G Freshman awards, but he's been relatively invisible.
Other than Leron, the starters combined for 19 points...
I think this is pretty true.Big problem, he needs to shoot.
I am totally impressed with Williams. Missed his senior year with injury and playing above his grade level immediately. This is a really good ball player.
Sure would like to see Trent and DaMonte start Saturday. I'm ok with Alstork and Finke starting alongside Leron, too. Until we get a good big, it's Finke and Ebo, with Ebo taking a nice step forward tonight. The Illini cannot keep spotting teams a large lead in the first half and expect to win on the road, especially in the B1G.
Patience wearing very thin. I know it's early, but having suffered through the last of the Weber years and then Groce, I have no patience left for this. They better start winning some games soon. Other than the Mizzou, game it is the same old crap of giving the team a mile head start and trying to catch up. Unacceptable!
ImAlso shocked, literally shocked, that Alstork has not had a single big game offensively. Defensive effort? OMG, off the charts. But where is his shot?
Gotta start Frazier and Williams > Lucas and Smith we just take a dump too often at the start. Finke gets abused down low but who is the alternative? Alstork is really good on the ball D but flawed everywhere else. Underwood is doing everything he possibly can with this roster.
Totally agree. If you cannot see and enjoy the difference this year compared to past years, then you should turn it off. There will continue to be struggles but the overall direction is up.The problem here is that Coach Underwood is trying to make up for all of the Weber/Groce years. You only give just around half a season and you give up? Just jump on some other team's bandwagon and crawl back when things turn around in the future. That way you can act like you were here all along. You owe it to yourself to suffer less in life. Stop watching and save yourself. This wasn't going to be an overnight turnaround... Anyone "expecting" any different was/is living in fantasy land. That isn't the coaches' or the team's problem, that is the problem of those with unreal expectations in this rebuild. We need some bigs. Groce didn't leave much in that department. We have gotten as much (and probably more) than what I expected to get out of this group thus far. I'm enjoying watching these players grow and play their a$$es off (no matter the circumstances). Sure, things could be different/better, but they could be way worse as well. Give it time. With the right additions on the recruiting front, we will be back sooner, rather than later.
How long will the mediocrity continue? A fan can grow very old waiting for Illinois basketball to improve. Saw enough tonight, turned it off. Can't get enthusiastic about their next game. This is rotten: last time we had a good team was some 13 years ago.
Enough already.

“Illinois will be a tournament spoiler.”
Could happen.
Ditto.Totally agree. If you cannot see and enjoy the difference this year compared to past years, then you should turn it off. There will continue to be struggles but the overall direction is up.
