Highly-athletic 2018 wing. Mac Irvin Fire product. Chin Coleman was out to see him on Wednesday. Has physical tools that simply don't exist on the current roster.

Take him if he wants to come...kid is very skilled and very athletic with a flair for something different when he seems to touch the ball.

Last kid that looked like this on a highlight film was Lovett imo!

brandon and darius paul?! brandon worked out great. Darius... not so much

Darius was considered a taller more athletic Brandon, he was a great get at the time. Would have transformational had he stayed on track

Flying ILLINI make up of a team is on the way back imo.

BU reflects on those days in interviews, remembers the buzz around the program, and we for the most part had 6-3"-6-7" type of guys. Honestly believe we will have athletes on this team within 2 years top to bottom running up and down, pressure defense and rotating in a solid 9-10 players every game.

That team had two guys that would play for over ten years in the NBA, another nba player in Liberty who left early, and other guys like Battle and Bardo who could play above the rim. Frazier is the only kid on the roster now with anything resembling that type of talent.

This means staff isn't feeling great about Jones.

Maybe, but I think it says more about what he thinks about the players he has.

I’m betting on a 5 man class. Don’t have a clue which players are leaving and it’s not healthy to speculate. I think the lack of progress and Underwood’s comments post game signal an overhaul of the roster.

Not a coincidence offers went out immediately.

Liked the comparison of IU to ND football. IU may be off the blue blood list, but at this point our orange is diametrically opposed to blue on the color wheel. I have confidence that BU will make improvements, but the tide has clearly not turned yet.

Don't see much on the recruiting side to get me excited other than Ayo. Hopefully the tide comes in followed by a storm surge.

This is the area of concern for me. I'm not worried about BU's ability to coach a team. Whitman would not have hired him had he not already proven himself in this area. But at some point you need players to buy in and commit to Illinois. So far Underwood hasn't been able to close the deal on his top recruits other than Ayo.

I agree, that is why I said it is on the way back...I firmly believe BU will make his roster to mirror that type of size/athleticism and hopefully the talent will be up to the level he needs to get his system to winning games.:chief:

You're exactly right. When I see people comparing the roster we have now to the '89 team that had all 6'6' and 6'7' guys to show that we can win with a smaller roster is utterly laughable. That team had numerous 5-star players and guys who knew how to win. Once we put four or five 5-star players on the floor who are 6-6 and 6-7, then I'll believe the comparison. I swear some people are delusional.

I agree. Timing is everything. Basketball is very much between the ears - to go with athleticism. I think BU can tell a lot of the current roster doesn't have what it takes between the ears to play his style of ball and to meet his demands as a coach.(and the obvious lack of athletic abilities)

I'm guessing it's both.

Tevian Jones is probably going to Arizona, IMO. So, I hope the staff is looking at other options.

And if Jacobs fits what the staff is looking for -- and is a MIF guy as well -- then it makes perfect sense to pursue.

Jacobs' athleticism is great. If he was 6' 5-6", I'd be pretty thrilled with the offer.

It is somewhat notable to me that Demarius Jacobs outplayed, outscored Cam Burrell, Tamell Pearson, Xavier Pinson and Horton-Tucker ... outplayed, outscored everyone on Fire but Ayo. It shows that he has some alpha dog in him playing with D1 level guys.

And had the best FG% and one of the best free throw FT% at .83, the most steals on the team, 4.1 rebounds per game (third on the team) and tied for second in blocks.

Obviously a very active and effective all around player.
