The Fighting Bruces are channeling their inner Illini with 1-10 from the 3 point line

watching KSU...announcers talking up BW and what a great coach. Coach of year in 3 conferences.

Sent from my VS500 using Tapatalk

Yeah he has coached an experienced Big 12 team to 34 points after 30 minutes.

It's now 38-33, so probably won't end up being that score.

This reminds me why I was so happy when Bruce left the Illini.

Hope he buys his team ice cream after this game too....

Brutally ugly basketball. Go UMBC!

Nantz: “Is this real?”
Raftery: “THIS IS INCREDIBLE!” (ly awful basketball.)

That was a game where everybody lost, particularly the fans.

K-State wins. A very ugly win but a win.

They are in the Sweet Sixteen.

They play Kentucky next.

Talk all the smack you want about Weber-ball,. but the simply fact is his team is in the Sweet 16 and we've missed the Tourney for 5 straight years.

He does a lot of little things, high energy player. Not sure they are worse with him on the floor.

He totally mucks up spacing. The lineup with Edwards at the 5 is legitimately dangerous. Butler pretty much ignored Haarms in the second half. Those final 5 minutes until the Mathias three were a disaster for Purdue, and it had much to do with Haarms out there.

Can you imagine if KSU would have played Virginia? The final score would have been 20-15

And just because Weber is a better coach than Groce doesn't mean he is good.

Also, Groce took over a program in bad shape and kept it bad, while Bruce took over two programs in really good shape and made them both worse.

Bruce still likes to talk. His post game interviews here and while at siu both were long winded. Still got that going. Hats off to him. He can still coach defense

I think Weber is a great coach.

He's just bad at recruiting.

He won a lot of games here with Self's players.
He won 27 games his first year at K-State with Martin's players.

You can all complain about his boring system all you want but, if he has the horses, his system wins.

He just can't consistently land the horses.

Last time Weber was in the Sweet 16 was when he was here with the 2005 team. Those were the days. Good for him. Don't get me wrong when it came to recruiting he didn't get it done and while he may have had his reasons, he did things the right way in terms of ethics. I wish things had worked out better as well as with Groce. Hopefully Underwood gets us on the right track. It will take time.

Bingo

Today’s game wasn’t particularly impressive but, beating Creighton without arguably their best player was. Now we’ll see what Bruce can do with Kentucky. Not sure they can score enough even with Wade playing. Really doubt they can without him.
