So, where is Porter Moser going to be the head coach next year??

Loyola. I don't think one great year will be enough to elevate him at this point, and also there seems to be so many fewer jobs open this year. I expect a second big win year for them next season (No FF probably lol), and then he might be in line for a bigger job.

Groce have more than one year of tournament success before coming to Illinois?

I do agree that there are fewer jobs open this year, it seems. It just seems anytime these Cinderella runs happen, the coach moves up.

No, but is apples and oranges. Groce was a younger coach on his way up, and he was a stretch hire by Mike Thomas anyway. Moser has a much bigger coaching career to look at which includes a firing at ISU and a record barely over .500. But again, there are not many jobs open. If Rhode Island is still open, I would not be surprised to see them hire Odom from UMBC, but maybe not.

You're probably right. He seems like the type of guy that wouldn't bolt immediately, but it would still be pretty shocking if he never leaves Loyola if he continues his success (remaining a tournament regular). Money is hard to turn down, and I'm pretty sure the offers will be there starting this year.

Big fan of him though; he's been on my radar since he got the job because he's a fellow Benet alum!

Yeah, he seems like a really good guy and very strong character, so I expect him to hang around Loyola a year. But most likely he wins quite a few next year, and has an offer or two that are too good to refuse.

Actually, he did. In his second year, as a 14-seed, Ohio U upset Georgetown (the 3-seed) in the first round after winning the MAC tournament to qualify for the NCAAs.

Two years later, he took Ohio to the Sweet Sixteen by beating Michigan and South Florida before losing in overtime to #1 seed North Carolina.

It just might be if he has the sister go with him.

If they go the assistant route like they’ve done in the past it’ll be Travis Steele. I know he’s a finalist for the Middle Tennessee job right now which could be an issue timing wise though.

Ugh. They should just bring back Matta

Yeah, I was curious how this shakes out. I had heard Weber to Pitt before the elite eight. Though I don’t think it happens, the KSU must be somewhat appealing to Underwood

Coaching your alma mater walking into a top 10 team has to be attractive. A lot more attractive than our dumpster fire situation right now. That said I doubt KSU has that type of money

Leaving a Top Ten level program that you have built for a huge dumpster fire that would take several years to build up in the ACC does not seem very attractive.

That is just ugly to think about. Am not thinking it happens either. Hoping IL is off of the coaching carousel for at least a few years.
