Jack Buford tweeted he was committing during the summer. IL has A LOT of people to fight off for this one

BTW, Buford is Thomas Rooks' nephew (according to Jeremy Werner).

They talk about Isaiah Williams' commitment and how much Rod Smith likes Williams at Quarterback. I thought the comparison to Tate Forcier was interesting but Trieu has mentioned before that he believes Williams will be a four year starter at QB for Illinois.

Wiltfong also mentions why he put in a CB for Jahleel Billingsley to come to Illinois. They also talked about other guys they have put in CBs for (McCray, Cooper and Henry).

Sorrells is another top 100 guy they mentioned.
This link took me to an article about a Leonard Glass? I was thinking it was the podcast you mentioned.

Same as Dude

In this podcast, Wiltfong mentioned that McCray told him that Illinois was his leader and that he plans on coming back to Champaign for the spring game.

Yes that was talked about on here a few weeks back. It is on page 7 of this thread.

+1 I'll never understand why so many think that the top players are only allowed to attend certain schools. And why those schools are supposed to be on top EVERY YEAR! It's time for a change. There is no reason the U of I can't become a consistent top 25 team throughout the 2020's :thumb:

This!!!! They act like we suppose to embrace mediocrity. We have a coach that has proven to be a winner at the highest level of football. He had to blow the program up and is now currently building it back up. Now he starting to make noise on the recruiting trail. All I gotta say is LittyVILLe is here to stay look out. 2020’s is ours

It is very symbolic that the physical program (facility) is being built while the personnel is being built at the same time. We can feel and see it...pretty cool

Lots of momentum in the football program. I think this is what everyone was hoping would happen when Lovie was hired. What's crazy is how much Littyville has taken off. There are even shirts on Amazon now!

Wow rivals is a joke site I swear, once a day I see an article about Isaiah Williams and Marquez Beason decommitting later on. Plus I listened to Gorneys podcast, and the Illinois segment was 4.5 minutes of bashing the program. It is understandable to think that two big time recruits committing to a bad program is odd, but if the guy followed those recruits on Twitter I think it is quite obvious they aren’t decommiting anytime soon.

It sucks, but unfortunately that's the way it's going to be all the way up until signing day with 2 studs like this.

It's pretty obvious that staff talked them into committing early to get things going and help build a monster class. Kind of a "what have you got to lose" mentality. But in the back of my mind I can't help but be wary of the scenario where we have another rough year, we don't have the class we thought we could get, and Beason/Williams get cold feet while big name programs are pressuring them to flip.

All we can do is embrace the momentum and excitement right now, be thankful that Beason and Williams are trying to do something special, and watch it all unfold.

I don’t have inside information on this issue (and you may), but I read Beason and Williams wanted to commit early and the coaches asked them to take their time. I don’t think the staff pressed them. I only say that because what I’ve heard from a reliable source is that the staff presses the players to visit other places because they don’t want them to commit Unless they are ready to give their word. And their word is their bond. We never know what will happen, but I think Beason and Williams are expecting a bad season and are expecting that they will come in and turn the program around. More high level commits can’t hurt, but I think we will see an improved product on the field with a lack of playmakers. Beason and Williams are ideal for this scenario.

Who are all the players on campus this weekend? It seems like it will be a busy one for Football and Basketball.

I just know of Bargy and Beason. Kind of hoping that the Trinity squad would make an appearance, maybe Fabian McCray....

If Billingsley, McCray, and Henry commit to #ILLGang19 relatively soon (or at all), this class could truly blow up. In all of my time following the Illini I do not remember having a period this early in the class when we can responsibly and reasonably discuss the following caliber of player as guys who might commit soon:

4 stars: Billingsley, Cooper, Bargy

Solid 3 stars: Fabian McCray, Ira Henry

Individually each player who might jump on board (sans the awesome anomalies of Williams and Beason) might not seem crazy -- but the potential finished product here is absolutely amazing and can be the foundation for something special. I've had too much fun playing with the 247 calculator for this class.

Edit: If ANY duo or trio of these guys commits in quick succession, any 4 star we are in on becomes a reasonable possibility as do some of the 5 stars. Adding the five names listed above would put us at the current #3 class in the nation.

I will say I have heard Jeremy Werner say more than once that Ira is going to take his time with his recruitment so he can enjoy being courted once the Trinity 3 commit. Also, within the last few days, Marcus tweeted something along the lines of enjoy being recruited and don't rush. Gotta think that might be discussed with his teammates

Also Marcus Washington tweeted earlier with a pic n Illini gear. Jack Buford is planning to commit in the summer but it looks like he like Mizzou ( a girl on the b-ball team) so that might be tough to beat. He is arguably one of the best players left on our board imo
