That sounds great. Does MM mean midnight madness? We need an urban dictionary of abbreviations for newbies to this Board like me!
Yes

Any chance this is due to us slow playing these guys while we courted EJ and now they know how that is playing out?
The premise doesn't make any sense anyway. The two players won't even play the same position. If you slow play Shannon, you should get fired.
Its not sarcasm... those coaches especially Izzo have a tough love approach... when you see him tear into a player you also see him hugging them on the bench.... I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Underwood yet, but its the love part I have yet to see.
Not sure in our current state we are going to “slow play” any Top 100 recruit that fits the exact mold Underwood is looking for and tells coach they want to be here. We need 6’6 to 6’8 athletes that have played on the top level AAU programs and have won at that level. TSJ needs to work on some skills, but has measurables that will allow him to compete with the other high level athletes in the conference. We have lacked these types of athletes for some time now. We need to build depth at the 2, 3 and 4 because unfortunately there will inevitably be attrition. If they all stay then we have depth! The premise doesn't make any sense anyway. The two players won't even play the same position.
If we lose out on all 3 B1G we have been recruiting TS, EJ, OT...then I still think a class of AW, QG, MJ or another big we have offered other than JJ, would be an outstanding class. Not the 4-5* class that we were looking for, but a solid, talented class that can help us get back to where we would need to be to get that 4-5* class we all want.
It really doesn’t. These guys, especially the top ranked guys, have 1 thing on their mind. Basketball. This gets argued about every year during OV season. There is almost no correlation between a good football program and a good basketball program. You can make a pretty large list of schools with a good football team and bad basketball team, and vice versa.

This is a ridiculous post. Do you remember the interaction BU had with Tum Tum Nairn on senior night? Or what he said after the game about the special bond between players and coach? Tough love is part of mentoring young kids. I personally don't see a difference between Izzo's sideline demeanor and BU's. If you think he doesn't love his players your not watching the same games/interviews I am.
And yes, some kids and parents aren't going to like his coaching style. We had 5 years of "kids glove" coaching and it sucked. I am willing to give him more than 1 season to see how it all shakes out.
Chin recruited Kane. The rest were Orlando. They were, uh, not very highly sought after recruits though. Even Illinois can always fill our roster with those type of recruits. He needs to recruit better.
BU’s in your face style is no different than the HOF coaches still walking up and down the sidelines for Duke, MSU, KU, WVU and there are a lot more probably to add to the list. Give him a chance to win on the court and this topic will disappear from the forum.
200+ ranked players and JUCOs are players we should land if Antigua is here or not. That's not what he was brought in to do and were lying to ourselves if we think that.Don’t forget Feliz as well. High ranked or not, Orlando has lamded several recruits for the Illini.
He landed top talent at KENTUCKY. Did people really think he was going to be close to landing top talent before we pull ourselves out of the gutter? If he can develop the bigs that we do land and have them compete against top 100 bigs, then he’ll stay. Plus he’s getting top guys to come to campus for OVs and although it’s not as meaningful unless they commit that’s more of Underwood’s job to seal the deal anyway.200+ ranked players and JUCOs are players we should land if Antigua is here or not. I didnt say I expect him to land what he did at Kentucky. He has an elite reputation as a recruiter. That's why he was brought in. Anything more is lying to ourselves. We can start with at least landing a top 150 kid. Dont think that's much to ask.
In this class, it shouldn’t be and I’m frustrated about it too but I think it falls more on Underwood than Antigua. Antigua is building the connections and getting them them in the door, it’s up to Underwood to seal the deal and convince the recruit that our product is good enough.I didnt say I expect him to land what he did at Kentucky. This board has descended into chaos.

The sky is not falling.
We were "blue blood" then. Not picking on you at all but I’ve seen this posted countless times and I honestly have no idea what it means. It sounds great and all but we have to convince kids that Illinois is the best place for them but realistically it means given their current offers. Think of the beloved Illini players from the past 30-40 years and now I hate to break it to you but 90% of them would gone elsewhere if they had blue blood offers.
Did Finke "work his tail off"? Didnt look like it to me, especially on defense.Sounds like Finke.
