I have read the mention of BU playing more zone with our personnel this year to help protect our bigs, but others have said that won’t happen because it isn’t BU’s style?? To me, a good coach adapts their scheme (to an extent) to the strengths and weaknesses of their roster to help the team win. If more zone defense is what it takes until we get some capable bigs down low to be truly effective with BU’s in your face denial defense- why wouldn’t BU make these adjustments?

Has anyone found the date and time the replay will be on tv for free?

I checked BTN listings for about 5 days after this game (basically just scrolled through) and there was no listing for this game. There was a program called something like, Student U which I presume is a student production which these BTN+ games are usually. But that is all it says. No indication of what the program is so it could be that. But I doubt it. Last year BTN did not re-broadcast any Illinois BTN+ games. I don't think they do that anymore. But maybe Illinois wasn't a priority and they broadcast other teams' BTN+ games. I don't know, I just know, or pretty sure no Illinois BTN+ game was re-broadcast on regular BTN

Okay, I did some more digging. It appears that this program, Student U, does indeed rebroadcast BTNPlus games. I just noticed that tomorrow they are rebroadcasting the Northern Michigan at Michigan State game which is was last night. Unfortunately, I have checked the Student U programs for a few days after the Illinois game and all it says is, "Student produced events". But that appears to be the program to check to see if the Illinois game is being rebroadcast.

I don't really consider preseason Kenpom to be very useful.

KenPom is pretty great later in the season when it has more information, but early in the season, like any other model, it is based on little to no concrete information about this season, so it struggles. It's a classic case of garbage in, garbage out.

In the words of statistician George Box, "All models are wrong but some are useful."

BU in comparison to many college coaches plays zone fairly consistently. I think in most of our games last year we saw a 3-2 for significantly higher percentages of time than other coaches are willing to do.

A big season from AJ would ease so many of the issues with this roster.

We'll need a miracle at center still, but penciling in starter's minutes for a long 6'5" senior who's a knock-down shooter and a capable defender makes the rest of it make so much more sense.

All of a sudden then Kipper's role is clear and DaMonte doesn't have to play out of position and Tevian can come along at his own pace and we're not throwing lineups of nobody who's played before out there and click, click, click it all starts to snap into place. We're bringing on youth and talent off the bench to supplement where they can rather than making their inexperience load-bearing parts of the team.

That's a projection at this point, AJ hasn't been that guy yet, but goodness knows he's got what it takes above the shoulders to have that kind of senior year. It would mean everything for this team.

It seems that the signing of Adonis is gonna be worth it just for the teaching he can provide to Samba and Giorgi. Though, I'd really like it if he were able to play this year, too.

This. That video of him and Samba was great. Guy is an asset even if he doesn't play.

The problem is that he hasn't been that knockdown shooter in games. Only in practice. He needs to basically become in games what we have heard he is in practice. We can't really assume anything.

This isn’t true. He has been a knockdown shooter in games. Sure his percentage went down during B10 play but that doesn’t he wasn’t that for at least part of the year.

He was the #1 three point shooter in the nation in the non-con.
The problem was that once the conference play started and the opponent D could sag off of the others, AJ couldn't get the openings he needed to continue to score. If we have more offensive from others, we'll get more from AJ as well.
