Wisconsin 64, Illinois 58 POSTGAME

#29
hey played very hard, could of won. Didn't quite finish. Ayo was just off for most of the game.

Will be ok. Compare this to the last . . . I don't know how many years. Going to help the Las Vegas odds on making the tournament and winning it. $100 will turn a bigger profit.

ILL . . .

The loss lies at the feet of the Illini. There were at least 5 empty possessions in the last 4 minutes on just sloppy passing . The officiating wasn’t perfect , but it was as good as you expect on the road. Again, Illinois has no one to blame but themselves.
That inbounds pass was bad. No other way to call it. Other things didn’t go well but that pass was just plain bad effort. Ayo just didn’t have it. He needed to work harder at the other little things.

The refs didn't decide the game...but it never ceases to amaze me the kind of calls they get at home. Giorgi should've had an and-1, instead they called it on the floor. Iverson was falling out of bounds and they gave him a timeout. 2 blatant missed calls right in front of the refs face.
7 for 25 from Trent and Ayo is the story of the game. Not the refs.

Wisconsin made keys plays down the stretch. Give them credit. It's a tough league.

Win the next one.

I would say refs didn’t help, but your right we just didn’t make enough plays. Bad shot selection, missed layups, bad turnovers, especially those 2 in a row towards the end. Georgi not blocking out for that rebound. Ayo missed a lot of shots and took some questionable ones. He really needs to work on that 3 ball shot. It looks like an awkward set shot.

wasn't the spread like 11 points or something? At least we kept it close (playing at Wisky is a hard place to win at) overall we just need to make those bunnies .

We shot 37% from the floor. This is on us, not the refs.

AJ had a very good game. I liked what Griffin did.

We played tough on the road. I'm not embarrassed or mad. We're not at the level that wins in the Kohl center with our best three playing "meh" games.

37% shooting. Out rebounded by 7. Only forced one more TO.

And we have people complaining about the refs.

We need to MAKE LAYUPS. and floaters. We need to not commit dumb freshman fouls or play hero ball.

But the arrow is pointing up. I just hope we get Izzo on Day 2 in his “I just want to lose and get ready for the real tourney” mentality.

Only 3 teams have gone into Kohl this year and won. It’s a tough place to play. If we were in the midst of a 19-7 season and just lost that game, it wouldn’t be so crushing.

We are a good team now, and even good teams lose to Wisconsin at Kohl. It just sucks that we piled up so many losses before figuring out how good we could be.

Instead of quoting any one post, any poster who feels the need to criticize this team after tonight, need to save themselves the stress and heartache and just go cheer for a Blue Blood.

The past is the past, can't change it, we're coming from the worst place Illinois basketball may have ever been. The hottest team in the BIG regardless of overall record, playing more Fresh/Soph than anyone else, just lost on the road by 6 to the #22 team in the country.

Sub par shooting night, great effort on the other end, this team CONTINUES to grow, love this team, so excited for the future of the program!

We'll be alright. Like the direction. We have turned a corner.......keep this crew in the fold and we win this and games like this.

I’m with you, I’m not mad or embarrassed. We are gonna learn a ton from this. We played very hard, the defense was strong and consistent but made a few mistakes that can be corrected. I bet when the guys watch the game video, they’ll see how close they were to taking this game. It’ll pay dividends in experience

I hope we get to play WI in the BTT

Me too. But if you assume they are a 4/5 seed, the most likely route would be us as a 8/9 and beating the 1 seed. Tough way to get to them.

Oh well, play who they put in front of you.

We don't have great offensive options against physical defense like that. If Damonte could shoot like Jordan to give us another 3 point kick out threat...we need more shooters...Purdue will also play physical defense like that in Mackey... they will probably score 80....slim chance to win that one.

Our young guys played like young guys down the stretch, nothing to get down about they will be lucky to beat us more than once in the next three years. I will take them in the big ten tournament. Streak will end---------------
