BU also took Vesel and Ebo and if you would have trusted him on those two over some ranking services, you likely would have been disappointed.
Ebo was good. If Kouma is another Ebo we're in good shape.

Mike Davis too. People don't tend to obsess over the 4 as much as other positions because it's the least defined position in modern basketball. They're not just big strong karl malones anymore. What is asked of the 4 changes drastically based on the scheme whereas the general preferred skillsets of 1-3 & 5 are the same in virtually every system. I think that's why a lot of the time your "4" is just your 5th best or 2nd tallest player.Yep, that's the name I came up with, but we really only got 1 year where he was better than average in the conference

Sure, my point was more that Giorgi was ALSO taken out of desperation and we probably shouldn't assume that BU saw him as the diamond in the rough that he was. I don't think we can look at his recruitment process and say, well that was different than Vesel and Ebo. More likely, BU saw some degree of potential in all three, but ultimately we took all 3 in desperation and one of them turned out better than we could have dreamed. (this isn't to take all credit from BU, many other coaches were in need of a big this year and didn't offer Giorgi). Kouma seems like the first of the 4 that BU isn't more or less forced into taking, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Personally, I'd love to see us start red-shirting some post players, and this may be the first good chance we've had in a while.I think you answered your own question there. Vesel and Ebo were taken in desperation. They may eventually become good players or not, but BU had no time to really screen them. This year, he has had a chance to really check them out. I trust his judgment.
I disagree. OA had seen GB for some time. This wasn't a desperation move. This was a move we see teams like WI and others make, where we sit back and think, we have to face this guy for 3 more years?......why can't we recruit players like that.............under the radar, high IQ ballplayers.Sure, my point was more that Giorgi was ALSO taken out of desperation and we probably shouldn't assume that BU saw him as the diamond in the rough that he was. Adam Miller told Corey Evans of Rivals that he is still open with the process, but that 4 stand out--Illinois, UCLA, Louisville and ASU.
Out of that group I like our chances.......until blue bloods come a callin'Adam Miller told Corey Evans of Rivals that he is still open with the process, but that 4 stand out--Illinois, UCLA, Louisville and ASU.
Well, they did name an island after him.Former UNLV commit but when Marvin Menzies was fired he opened his recruitment back up. Puerto Rican native and playing with Kofi on Nike World Summit team. OA certainly knows his way around the Caribbean.

Antigua is not exactly some obscure place. It's a popular vacation destination. It's not like we have a coach named Rarotonga and someone made a Pacific island joke.

Rumor is that Hurley is in the running to replace Mullin at St Johns. If he goes that might knock ASU out of the running (or maybe SJU jumps in).
