KK Robinson (2020 PG) - October 11th
Andre Curbelo (2020 PG) - October 18th

Either one would be a fantastic get for this program, with or without Miller?

Delete that question mark. Illinois should be happy to take both KKR and Curbelo if they both want to come, even if it means we miss on Miller. That'd still be a killer recruiting class. Both should be ready to compete and I could see the 2 of them plus Senior Trent Frazier splitting the majority of the time at the 1/2 in 2020 so there'd be no reason for them to be concerned about a lack of playing time.

Some odds and ends concerning Andre Curbelo.
1. There was some talk about Curbelo committing on his visit or soon after (posts on the Sept. recruiting thread). Just wanted to point out that according to this article

Four-star guard Andre Curbelo schedules three officials

that although he has scheduled three visits, he plans on OVs to all five schools. So it will be a while yet.

"Four-star recruit Andre Curbelo recently narrowed his list of schools to five and now has scheduled three official visit dates, his coach Jay David tells 247Sports. “[We are] still working on the others,” David told 247Sports."

I can't find the source right now but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that he said he is in no hurry to commit or that he isn't committing anytime soon or something like that. Although, that does not always mean that will be the case.

2. Coaches from Illinois and Miami have met with his mother in Puerto Rico already. I think that is a good thing.

3. From an article on a Miami fan site on FanSided, (the grammar is atrocious. You have to wonder what kind of education Miami offers) "If Miami gets a signs Curbelo to a National Letter of Intent in November or April 2020, he would like backup current Miami point guard Chris Lykes who will be a senior in 2020-21." So he may not get immediate playing time like he likely would at Illinois

Any predictions, outside of Hawkins, for signing day? Hoping Miller , Robinson, and Curbelo don't hold off signing until the Spring.

Seems to me like all basketball factors favor Illinois, and Miami's location is the biggest threat. Every single member of Miami's starting 5 graduated last year except their point guard. That said, he wouldn't start right away at Illinois with Trent still there.

If I had to make a prediction, I would say Miller signs but I am not 100% sure it will happen.

Curbelo, KKR will wait until spring signing.

If we sign Miller without KKR or Curbelo then Miller will 100% start. TF would play PG to Miller's SG. Also Miller is trying to make the case that he's a Combo Guard as that would help him break into the NBA so he would welcome the opportunity to be a ball handler for Illinois alongside Trent. Likely Miller, Trent, and Hutcherson would become the 3 guys at the 1/2. Maybe they'd have Griffin plan some time at the 2 as well in that scenario which could make us a really tall team and really dangerous from deep if Griffin can shoot as hot as Trent.

Ideally we'd sign Miller and then one of KKR or Curbelo though. In that case, even if Miller doesn't start he would still get 25-30 minutes per game as Trent, Miller, and KKR/Curbelo would combine for close to 80 minutes.

Illinois has 2 open rides for 2021 recruits. We have offered 25 scholarships according to 247.
Duke will likely have 5 open rides for that class. They have offered 5 scholarships, and one of them is Max Christie. Hell, one of them has an older brother on our team.
Both staffs are probably reasonably accurate on anticipating their conversion rates.

Snacks just won't give up.....Kansas with an offer to AJ Casey.
I heard he was good.....but I didn't know he was THAT good!? I have lived near Tinley for 50 years....the last 40 IN Tinley...a BIG hs hoops fan....but have never been to a hoops game there. With a new gym just built....I'll be there the first game. With a Kansas offer....is it already "over" for the Illini?
