Hard pass on Monken and triple option. If that move was made and it didn’t work it would set the program back further than Beckman did.

Re: Chip Long, just heard that he is very awkward and kind of just a weird person. They also said a lot of his recruiting looks good because Notre Dame is Notre Dame.
+1 for Team Leonhard
Werner was pondering this the other day when he had Rittenburg on and the convo was suggestive that Monken may not be as married to the system as it seems. I have no clue what other offenses he’s been around/ran so I can’t speak to it but it was intriguing. Especially given his connections to the local area.
How y'all feeling about Rod Carey these days?
Extremely good, but it would cost $10 million just to buy him out at Temple. It makes more sense to reallocate that money elsewhere, another candidate, assistant salary pool, etc.
Timing maybe? As far as when we were looking vs where those guys were in their NIU stints?
I'm not yet excited about Fickle, despite his success at Cinci. I guess it's hard to get that year as OSU head coach out of my mind.
Ah, makes sense. Looks like Temple did a pretty good job of locking him down. I agree that there are better uses of $10M.

Bolded: LOL, that they did. Getting burned by 2 coaches in a matter of months will do that to ya.
Oh, by the way, I heard from a "source" yesterday who claimed to have heard that Clay Helton is a dead man walking at USC, and when he's fired he will then be hired by Illinois.
This is secondhand information from someone in IL HS football who has been wrong about stuff like this before. Take it with an Everest-sized grain of salt. I'm not much of an insider but the price is right.
Eh, I wouldn't take much out of that positively or negatively. He was just a babysitter. A bunch of guys were suspended for a big chunk of that season, they lost Terrelle Pryor in June and it was a fait accompli that Urban Meyer was coming by mid-November. You could say Fickell did an admirable job of keeping a roof on the place during such chaos, but I wouldn't go too far down that road either. It wasn't his team in any meaningful sense.
At this point, I'd be more worried about Fickell inheriting Meyer's worst qualities, i.e. being too loyal to veterans and filling out his staff with a bunch of his friends.
Being "the next Lee Corso" could be considered an insult.
I would be both shocked and elatedOh, by the way, I heard from a "source" yesterday who claimed to have heard that Clay Helton is a dead man walking at USC, and when he's fired he will then be hired by Illinois.

There are so many strange takes out there. Here are 5 oddballs:
I just need some hope.
- Fleck. He far exceeded expectations for how fast things would turn for the Rodents. But I would never want him in the O&B. Stay up north. #RTB
- Carey - this is why I'm not a college AD. I'm stunned what he's doing this year at Temple. Good for him.
- Kiffin - after how the UT stuff went down, I used to say never. Maybe he's matured at FIU? I'd be open.
- Petrino - only a university who has zero.. no... NEGATIVE integrity would go this way. If we do this, do we target Pearl for Hoops?
- Doeren - I thought he'd fail at NCSt. But look at him now... potentially out of reach? Again, good for him.
