Refs give Maryland 2 on a "goaltend"
Dakich: "this officiating crew has done a terrific job today."
This is a little out of context. I do not like listening to Dakich. But he called that a bad call and said it was a clean block. He said the comment about the officiating crew on a completely different call.

Don’t !!!!! about this loss. !!!!! about the Miami loss. You shouldn’t expect to win this game. The other guys are very very good.

Frazier can hit shots. I don't like that weave sometimes because all the players become compacted. It doesn't seem like it gets shooters open.
I like Frazier and I think Alan has solid potential as a shooter too. Our weave doesn’t get shooters open because we don’t have more than 2 on the court at any given time. I really hope Miller stays committed because he can really shoot and we need that.

I just don't see how you watch the last two games and conclude this team is ever going to put it together.
Illinois should have won. I don't see Maryland as anymore talented than Illinois. Illinois can play with just about any team in the country. They just need to be tougher, not when they're down (which they've shown), but when they're up.

On a real note, Cowan shot that 3 to tie from outer space. Truly a circus shot. I believe that what this team sorely lacks is a trustworthy bucket-getter. We have been FAR too turnover this year. I don’t trust anyone In a game-winning situation.
Hammer meet nail. That's exactly what this team is missing. A guy who is going to take control on the game. As much as we want to believe that Ayo is that guy.....he's not. He's not a lottery pick, he's not a first round pick, he's not a second round pick.....he's not first or second team All Big Ten.

His return was supposed to be what put us over the top. He's not that guy and it's ok that he's not! However, yhe fans and most notably the coaches need to accept that.

Great guards win college basketball games. Cowans and Lykes both exhibited how big time players win big time games. We don't have a guy like that.

Did Griffin play 2nd half? Shooter who rebounds. We obviously needed to continue scoring against Twerps...oh well...beat Michigan and I will be back to a positive mode. These last two...sheez, I was feeling nervous when Ayo started to clam up in 2nd half. First half he was impressive and hope he can build some confidence on that....been a long run with Illini but the Weber, Groce and beginning of Underwood era has me on ropes...

1st: Where was our center
2nd: Where was our star nba prospect
3rd: We actively lost this game, they did not beat us....
4th: 😐🔫
I am very glad that Ayo plays for our Illini. He plays hard and is a very good player. We have a good team if we dont turn the ball over. We do not have a lottery pick in our back court. If we had that type of player like Dwill or Harper we wouldnt turn it over so often or lose this game. I think it's time to have some more realistic expectations. The team fought hard. We turned it over far too often. Some questionable coaching and timeouts by BU and a huge shot by their first team pre season All American .

Total fouls:
Maryland - 17
Illinois - 17

The refs aren't out to get Illinois or any other team. People actually believe this nonsense?
I get what you're saying, but on a different note fouls mean different things when they're called, where they're called, how, etc. If you look at all box scores from today in NCAAM, I'll bet most games are close to even in foul totals for each team. Refs take pride in making those numbers come close to even, but it tells nothing of context for each foul; how it impacted the game.

Just sucks . Don’t understand last two possessions going one on two or three. The way the offense was struggling in last 5 minutes how could we not call timeout and draw something up that last possession? Seems like we are still trying to figure out our go to guy for points late in games. Sadly a great effort wasted.

Where was Tevian? He lit them up last year and doesn't even get in for two minutes?

Would liked to have seen more Alan Griffin in the 2nd half and less Feliz. We had multiple ballhandlers on the floor the entire game, but when Kofi and Giorgi got in foul trouble in that 2nd half we got murdered and the backboards!

Alan's ability to shoot and ability on the boards would have been crticial. Underwood was stubborn and outcoached by a team that was giving away this game.

Terrible terrible loss

This board is called Illinois Loyalty. Our guys just went toe to toe with the number three team IN THE COUNTRY on THEIR HOME COURT. And this board wants to skewer our coach and our players. I'm heartbroken. But let's not be that fickle and unsuppprtive fanbase that spews vitriol on our team.
They just choked a 15 point lead on national TV.

Giorgi 4
Cockburn 4 (3 of them in like 30 seconds)

Giorgi and Kofi had to sit for large parts of the second half. No Maryland players in foul trouble. No, not one. Did you miss that part? Geez man, if you aren't paying attention, why comment?

If you had told me before game we’d lose by 1 and I’d be livid, I would have been confused.

.......It's not that we lost, it's how we lost.

This is going to be quite the statement after the last decade as a half of Illini basketball, but

These last two losses have me more demoralized about Illinois basketball than I’ve ever been before.

So broken.

Illinois went 1 for 3 on free throws when Maryland got the Flagrant 1. If I were a Maryland fan, I would be saying the refs were trying to put them away there. Illinois just couldn't execute.

Everyone in the arena & viewing audience knew who would take and make the big shot for Maryland. We don’t have one of those guys this year...we have a team full of betas.

I will continue to cheer for the team.
