-- Play tougher D
-- Keep Georgi inside the arc (preferably in the paint with Kofi)
-- More Alan G.
-- Cut back on the weave --- spread the court and create space
-- Run every chance we get
-- Give Tev more minutes
I’m not seeing any reason as of right now to give Tev more minutes other than to just right his ship. He looks like a kid who sat out 10 or 12 games.

Would you believe me if I told you that Georgi is shooting over 30% on threes so far this year? I'm not saying give him the green light, but I would be open to having the coaching staff work with him on that. If Georgi could make the three-ball a legitimate part of his arsenal, that would do a lot to spread the floor and create room for Kofi.

Let’s not get crazy. Lol.

Purdue isn’t very good. Win at Wisconsin and I’ll start to believe.

Good to see us fix some easy things though. Getting out in transition, second chance points, limit minutes for Damonte and more minutes for Griffin. Low hanging fruit but it’s good to see it addressed, since it hasn’t been for a while.

Purdue is better than Wisconsin, but @Wisconsin is probably tougher than vs Purdue.

One of the guys on FS1 said he could see us playing into the second week of the tournament after the game lol. It’s not just fans.
It's not crazy. I'm usually pretty objective and there's no one in the country that should scare this team, but there also isn't any team in the Big Ten that this team can slack off against either. If Underwood can get them in and keep them motivated, they can compete with and beat anybody in a one and done tournament and put together a streak of a few games. With that being said, they could win 16 games this year and completely miss the tourney. Neither would shock me. Going to be a fun Big Ten season to watch. Optimal scenario would be a UCONN like tourney run with a mix of strong guards and bigs.

2nd lowest defensive point total resulted in a loss --- Penn State 38 Illinois 33

Please never discuss this again. That game was an affront to the game of basketball. That was my senior year at Illinois, so I am just glad it happened at Penn State or else I'd have been in the building to have my soul crushed like that.

EDIT: Wait, that was a home game and I was in attendance. That's how bad that game was.

AG is what we hoped Tev might be.
Tev should've played to get acclimated against the weaker competition instead of having to try and do it against the B10 teams... probably won't play like himself until middle of the conference schedule imo... especially when he was out of the dog house... plus he doesn't get enough court time to even get comfortable... obviously has the talent... he's shown it...

Had to watch on replay tonight, but that was worth it. Hard to believe how little Purdue was scoring in the game, but they were definitely off. Nice to see Kofi bounce back tonight and Griffin is a player whether he starts or comes off the bench. Nice job overall defending the home court.

Alan Griffin - A+
2nd Half effort - B
Free throw shooting - C
Purdue - D
Tim Miles - F
I have to keep the volume down fairly low because my kids are little, and asleep, and I couldn't understand anything Tim Miles was saying. It sounded like he was holding his mic with his feet.

Anybody know who rob was referring to when he said an Illini rolled an ankle in the shootaround? Pretty sure everyone who dressed played.

Trent made a big difference tonight. Shut down their shooter, hit some 3's, and took the ball to the hole with aggression. Great game Alan too obviously. Way to step on the throat of a good team.
Trent channeled Freshman Trent last night. Took the ball to the hoop like he used to and either finished or created opportunity - we need much more of that Trent because he can get by his defenders. Ayo, sneaky good tonight. His mid-range elbow jumper is coming along nicely.

Brad Underwood: Guys were dialed in. Threw some punches early.

Brad Underwood: Purdue had a night like we had against Michigan State, but I do think our defense had something to do with it. Our focus, I thought, was excellent tonight.

Brad Underwood: This league is unparalleled. There's no league even close in terms of the attention and attendance games draw. There's a different deal, a different vibe.

Brad Underwood: Didn't show team any film from MSU. Thought we did good things but we just didn't have a good shooting night.

Brad Underwood said they did make it a point of emphasis for Frazier to shoot more. "We need his punch."

He had double-digit shots for just third time in 15 games this season. He averaged 11.3 shots per game last season.

Trent Frazier: "I want to one of the best defenders in the country."

Said his goal is to be All-Big Ten Defense.

Matt Painter: "They're playing like they haven't been to the tournament. We played like we went there last year."

Matt Painter with some good stuff on coming from lower levels and adjusting to coaching defense with big men as it pertains to Brad Underwood. Said he made similar adjustment with Isaac Haas.

Matt Painter says #illini guard Alan Griffin was the best player on the floor, said he played harder than anyone on the floor.

Basketball coaches tend to be pretty insightful for the media, but Matt Painter is one of the most insightful.

The job of color announcer is not that difficult
1) Follow the quantity maxim- say what needs to be said and no more
2) Do not talk so much you prevent the play by play announcer from doing his or her job
3) Do not talk so much you distract the audience from the game.

I really could not tell you one thing miles said in that broadcast. I don’t know that I ever really listen to the announcers that deeply tho (unless it’s Walton, Vitale, or Bilas, don’t @me). I’m so into the game I could care less about what they say.

The most positive thing I saw out of Tev last night was when BU was correcting him while he sat, and he maintained complete eye contact, then nodded his head several times to let BU know he got the message.

It is kind of funny how a win heals most wounds for most fans — me included. Fun game to watch and Illini looked very good, but box score does show show some problems. Trent looked great and much more like his old self, but he only shot 5 of 12 with one assist. Ayo hit on only 3 of 11 shots though he did have 7 rebounds. In fact outside of AG, the team only shot 41 percent.
Illini play like they did last night, they have a chance against WI, but the Badgers are on a 4 game and haven”t lost at home. Hoping for a win, but not going to be posting in coaching carousel thread if doesn’t happen.
