Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like we played a lot less of the weave tonight -- a lot less windshield-wiper action around the perimeter.
Perhaps we did but, since the weave discussion started here I’ve noticed several other teams employing the weave in various ways to get an offense started.

The career high tonight was......................PURDUE, with a season LOW in points. Bout time the shoe is on one of our feet for a career high, nice stops ILLINI!
The after game announcers said it was an all time low for Purdue!

Cancel the Coaching Carousel thread.

Let’s not get crazy. Lol.

Purdue isn’t very good. Win at Wisconsin and I’ll start to believe.

Good to see us fix some easy things though. Getting out in transition, second chance points, limit minutes for Damonte and more minutes for Griffin. Low hanging fruit but it’s good to see it addressed, since it hasn’t been for a while.

End of the day, it’s just a home win we had to have. But it really seemed like BU made some significant adjustments (TF ball handling, spread offense, etc)... hopefully they stick and continue to work.

We still need to find three road wins (IMO), so @ Wisconsin is a great candidate.

Lastly, I thought Alan played solid defense in addition to his great offensive game. I think THAT combined effort should get him 25+ minutes going forward.

This is what happens when you come out from the opening the tip with the right attitude. You could smell it in the first minute.

We came out with a great attitude but also a different offensive game plan. I’m really beating the crap out of this horse and will stop after this, but 6 of our first 8 points came off spread action, and kofi missed 2 free throws that came off of it too.

Seemed like AD and TF weren't on the court together as much tonight. Ball movement was the best I've seen all year. Made the D work harder than we usually do and actually created some easy shots for ourselves. Here's to the turning of the fabled and elusive corner.

Thanks Fighting Illini...I needed that...tough defense, going after every rebound...clutch baskets by several players. Then winning going away...nice. No let up and this effort rest of the way would be great.

You’re right, but Mizzery isn’t very good either...this team can be either this one or that one...and sometimes within the same game. I just hope we get more of this team from here on out.

By the way, not trying to cherry pick your complete post...I agree with all your thoughts.

I actually think Alan got beat quite a few times on defense. Don't get me wrong, he had a great game and I'm not trying to pick on him. Just saying that's why I think he only played 20 minutes. He got pinned down low by Eastern a few times and got caught up in screens a couple times as well. Luckily, Purdue forgot how to put the ball through the hoop tonight.

Outstanding effort tonight. I'll take it every game please!

Missed shots are often signs of being tense and feeling desperate to get a score...yeah, they sucked offensively, but I think we made a lot of that happen.

He definitely struggled a bit with eastern’s size. I guess I was just mentally comparing him to DW, who I think Eastern could also push around. I didn’t see Alan get burned or out of place much.

I think it just seemed that way because Trent was the lead guard. He did a much better job than Ayo does of starting a team offense. (No instances of Ayo ignoring open Trent to drive into traffic). Ayo played 27 minutes and Trent 33, so they played over 20 together.

(Not hating on Ayo, just don’t think lead guard is his best role)

We just did to Purdue what MSU did to us. What a ridiculous league.

also please let me lead the overreactions: to the final four we go!!!!
One of the guys on FS1 said he could see us playing into the second week of the tournament after the game lol. It’s not just fans.

Funny how much better things look when you make your shots and your opponent doesn’t. It wasn’t always pretty, but a much needed win and we live to fight another day.

I was trying to pay attention, but not 100% sure... But it seems they only run that when there is 1 big on the floor?

We ran it to open. Our first points were high low from Giorgi to Kofi after the 2 man game which is honestly what I thought I’d be seeing a lot of this year.
