Just watching the replay I don’t really understand where Kippers shot went. His sophomore year he shot the 3 well and hit over 80% from the line. I don’t know how that disappears like that. Confidence is surely part of it.

It's the treadmills fault.

Super happy for Tent hitting the 1,000 milestone last night. Young man could've gone elsewhere with the coaching change, and has had 3 different roles in his 3 seasons here. Very glad he's kept such a positive outlook and stayed on w the Illini.

I was surprised to see Kofi get ate up on the defensive end.
He DID have a great block at the end of the game though.

I was seated on that end of the floor pretty close....I'm telling you that was a foul on Kofi...he got ball but he got a lot of arm to go along with it....give credit to BU....after Kofi was fouled a couple minutes earlier and then a foul was called on Feliz on the other end....BU went off on the official and saying how can you not call the foul on this end and then call the same action a foul on the other end...."that's Bulls*#t"......I'm certain that was a big reason the foul was not called on the block by Kofi of which you speak

When you can hear the hand on ball sound like on that block, it's usually not called a foul.

Wasn't able to see the 2nd half (had to be somewhere) but I'm VERY happy the Illini held off the Mild kitty cats for the W! Hoping they can keep this us

At one point in the game, Illinois had Giorgi, AF, and Damonte running a wave, we were down at the time. Could someone explain where the offense was going to come from in this scenario? They packed in the paint getting bored watching guys who can't shoot run around. IMO, Damonte should only get spot minutes when we need to shut someone down. I know AG was off today but he clearly brings more game to the table.

Wasn't that the play DW fed Ayo a lead bounce pass between two defenders for the layup?

We have come so far... but still have so much further to climb.. We need to move to the 1997-2005 era again. We are making the right steps in the right direction. I think we do have a coach that can build this program back to where it should be and will be! I-L-L

You transposed two digits in sentence #2 above.

s/b 1979 rather than 1997. It was essentially a 30-year run from 1979 (Eddie Johnson/Mark Smith and Lou's 15-0 start plus the win over #1 Magic Johnson and MSU) to 2009 and McCamey's So. season. 4 Elite 8 appearances and two Final Fours.

Is Ayo a PG or a SG? To me, he has to be a PG, because in today's NBA, SGs have to be able to shoot the 3. I only bring it up, because what we are really missing is a lights out shooter. This exact team plus Adam Miller would be fun, maybe not quite Dee, Deron, and Luther fun, but the closest thing we have had since 2005.
I agree. I also think our #1 need is a lights out 3-point shooter. Next year could provide three such weapons (A. Miller, Hutcherson and perhaps even C. Hawkins, based upon his tape).

They showed if from 3 angles during the game replay - Beran brought the ball behind his head and Kofi got all ball.

I think my favorite thing about the post-game threads is the opposing coach's comments. Especially lately, you get the sense that they honestly respect the job BU is doing and view the Illini as legit. That makes me confident.

And for some reason, I like it when the opposing coach refers to our players with their first name instead of last name.
After listening to the Collins' comments, I have even increased respect for him. A class act all the way.

Yes sir. I obviously showed my age there huh lol. You got to see that basket not I. I started watching the ILLINI play when I was starting to play truly organized basketball in 5 grade in 1995

i am relaxed skippy, but thanks for your concern. Most of those close losses have been at their home and the B1G home team advantage has been obvious this year. I wasn't looking for a 25 point win, rather a 10+ at our home court. We did not take them seriously enough - I imagine many teams are not and tend to not defend as aggressively as they/we should have. We were up 7 late - at home that should have gotten to 10, not down to 2 towards the end.
I'm really not sure what this team needs to do to make people happy. I expected us to win by double digits as well but having watched the game I understand why this did not happen. The cats played an outstanding game. Give them some credit and be happy with the win. It's interesting that my brother and I watched the game separately and we both independently concluded that NW played an outstanding game. Last year we would have lost this game.

Who said I was not happy Efrem? I don't understand why posters try to read and then demand other posters emotions. I am happy we won, but not pleased that it was not a larger win. Did you hear the BU presser and discussion with Katz? He basically said the same thing. Came out flat, weren't aggressive, didn't play great D. So my expectations, as a top 25 team, are that we perform better than that at home. I think part of the reason they played so well was because we didn't think they could play well - sort of like them allowing GB to keep shooting short baseline jumpers. "We don't think you can keep it up". Well, he did, and so did they.

Nice post.

NW playing a good game is in part on us.

I think that some fans are so elated at the idea of merely making the tournament that they're pretty willing to accept anything that will get us over that bar. I think the potential is higher and I suspect the coach does as well.

My bad. It just sounded like you considered the effort a failure based on "We were up 7 late - at home that should have gotten to 10, not down to 2 towards the end." The comments about us not coming out aggressively to start the game are true but I don't think that was true when we started to pull away late in the game and Northwestern made some plays. Also Northwestern got some extra rebounds from bad misses as weIl. I wish it was easy to pull away from a team with lesser talent but it often isn't, especially against an instate rival that's hungry for wins and well coached. They could cause trouble next year.

Well if you were that close you would have clearly seen that he hit the ball first...which is why it wasn't a foul.

Watch the replay....Kofi got arm as well as ball...5 minutes earlier in the game that would have been called a foul....I guess we disagree
