Not surprised. With Northwestern playing well lately and having those close losses, I just had that feeling they were gonna explode on someone eventually.

Really glad it wasn’t Illinois that they unloaded on...

Who is 22 for Kansas? Picking up a chair to hit someone? Really? I hope half the Kansas team gets suspended, long term.... pitiful.
Or Vince McMahon books the rematch at Madison Square Garden, on the same card as the Undertaker, The Rock and Triple H!

I'm very interested to see how this plays out. De Sousa (the guy that picked up the chair) should probably be suspended the rest of the year right? Maybe even kicked off the team? And it seems like the biggest instigators on the KState side were in street clothes, so either red shirting or injured. Not sure how you punish them.

Regardless, I think the punishments have to be severe for two reasons. Both entire teams were involved which makes it look very bad. And the fight spilled off the court, which put fans/cheerleaders/media at risk of getting hurt. UGLY.

Was watching the Duke when Dickie V was giving the Illini a lot of love tonight. Mentioned the the Illini quite a few times while announcing at the Duke game.

The Kansas / Kansas St. game was a complete embarrassment for two former Illini coaches. Not sure either team will be able to or should field a team after all the suspensions are done for that bench clearing brawl into the spectator area no less. Fans could have been seriously hurt. Both universities should be embarrassed and suspend all team members that left the bench and forfeit their next game. Set an example for the complete lack of sportsmanship shown by your players involved in that melee. We'll see if they take responsibility. Never seen anything like it. The player about to use the chair as a weapon should never see the court again this year.

As for Griffin tonight, he should be suspended and apologize to the player, his team, and the university. No call for what he did tonight. Don't even try excuse yourself that you lost your balance. Glad to see Underwood strongly motioning him to get off the floor and go to the locker room and hear his comments after the game. Video was already posted...Griffin already a "featured bad guy" numerous times on ESPN.

Sorry for my rant, but you can't let the crap I saw tonight happen in a game. Nip it in the bud, forcefully, unequivocally, and with severe consequences.

I would expect some severe suspensions...for Garden City Community College.

Ha! That'll be the day. A KU star in a potential championship year kicked off the team? I'll believe it when I see it. My guess is he's suspended "indefinitely" and they wait for it to blow over a bit, lots of apologies, then he's reinstated with enough time to play in the dance.

The biggest difference to what De Sousa did to start the melee and what Griffin did was that Purdue didn't respond.

Not only that, but apparently it spilled into a section for disabled people (according to the espn story)... Maybe they can appeal some more to get DeSousa back on the floor ASAP
