After the good news I figured I'd update this one. Who will be the starting 5?

Monte is going to draw the leading opposition scorer (except center and maybe pg) in each game. Team still going to be built on defense.

Disclaimer, my vote is for season opener and pre-conference play. (Ayo, Frazier, Miller, Monte, Kofi).

I would not be surprised to see Curbelo over Frazier (or Miller) at some point.

I would not be surprised to see Giorgi over Monte for some games if there’s a good mismatch or if Giorgi gets on a hot streak.

I would not be surprised to see Monte/Giorgi or Monte/Grandison at the 3/4 instead of Miller/Monte.

I think experience and DEFENSE will be a huge determining factor in who starts but I think Miller was promised an opportunity to shine like Ayo and Underwood will either start him early, or at least let him play major minutes out the gate to help encourage other players of his caliber to continue committing. (If Millers not playing well then they’d back off his minutes after a few games I’m sure)

I look for Miller to get plenty of playing time, but I will be shocked if he gets a starting spot before 2021 unless or until he proves he can play defense at a B1G level. Freshmen have to earn their sport in a starting lineup by doing just that and playing consistently. If Griff did not earn his spot in two years, why would BU give Miller a spot? Lou certainly would not even have entertained the thought in NOV. and few coaches would. Let Miller gain confidence and feel he has earned the respect of his teammates. Too much experienced talent for a frosh to get a starting spot on this team. But if they earn it and the chemistry proves out...they should get the nod. You gotta show me...and there is plenty of time and opportunity for that.

Going to be tough to replace Dre’s defense. Although I do think Adam and DreC are quicker and have the potential but don’t picture them ripping the ball out of a big’s hands.

I hear what you’re saying but Miller’s working out with the team right now and have plenty of opportunities to show he’s worthy of starting to the coaches and teammates before game 1. It’s up to him to put in that work

You have Ayo and Kofi and the other three will be determined by who can play off those two the best on both ends whole still being able to impact the games . I dont buy BU being so in love with all this experience that he tosses out three sub 30% or lower three point shooters in a starting lineup lineup around Kofi again .

Not so sure, Griffin has better no’s. proportional to his mins than Ayo and didn’t start. Think it is still going to be defense oriented. Defense travels! Would expect Ayo and Trent to have much improved three point %’s. BU seems to value the balance in his rotation more than who starts.

Assuming this poll is for start of the season: I can't see us going with a 4 guard lineup from the start - we'd get killed on the boards and frosh are known bad defenders... late season - yes as the opponent warrants but the B1G has too many teams with size to start the game with this line up. More likely shakeup IMO is #6 - Grandison instead of GB.

Could we wind up playing only B1G teams this season? If we do, I suspect our lineup would vary from what we would toss out if our first game was against West Cupcake.

Unfortunately ya. No mizzou would blow

I think there's going to be a difference between the starting 5 for the first game and the last...

I think this team is way more talented/experienced then when Ayo started as a frosh. But I may be undervaluing Miller there.

My 2 cents:

Put me in the camp that Miller gets a starting spot. I see the 1-3 spots being thoroughly covered with Ayo, Trent, Miller, Curbelo. Kofi will be 25+ min at center with Giorgi taking the rest. The 4 spot is up for grabs in my mind. Curious if Giorgi at the 4 is something they'll try again this year.

Giorgi and Kofi together last year did not play out very well. Giorgi will come off the bench to back up Kofi at the 5-because he’s really the only option. Hamlin was OK in very limited time last year, so maybe he’s an option-but I think it will very likely be Giorgi as the backup.

Miller 100% starts from day 1. I’ve seen people question his defense-he’s actually a plus defender. Obviously a step up from HS to the B1G but he’s far too talented not to start. Trent will start as well-so that leaves one starting spot between DMW, Grandison, Hutch, and Curbelo. My money is on DMW-but from what i heard the other three will contribute significantly. What a problem to have. The depth and talent this team has is something we haven’t seen in 15 years.

Ayo played his best when playing off ball last year. I can see all our 5 guards getting 20+ minutes... AC is probably the best distributor option we'll have. Unbelievable depth and we should be able to run opponents to exhaustion.

If games start in the fall, I think the very first starting lineup will be
Frazier, Ayo, Miller, DMFW and Kofi
I think Miller will still not be done getting up to snuff physically, nor fully ready for the B1G quickness, etc. but he will have enough to start on day 1, because his competition isn't better than him, even at that point. I also think he will be leaps and bounds better by midseason.
I think Curbelo is in the same situation as Miller, except at the beginning of the season, he won't be as ready for B1G play as Frazier. I suspect that will change as the season progresses. I expect BU to give Curbelo gradually increasing minutes to make that a reality.
I think DMFW starts at the 4 because he is rock solid on D, and if his 3's keep falling like they did in the last few games last year, he will solidify his time there.

If games start in spring, Curbelo may have a shot at starting over Frazier, assuming the team practices continuously and intensely from Aug to Feb.

We’ve had a run of great freshman with Trent then Ayo and Giorgi and then Kofi but believe they haven’t had to compete with the talent we have now with experience. Hope everyone is right about Miller and Curbelo but actually believe they may have a tougher time than Hawkins. He has some skills not presently on the team and has been accustomed to playing a supporting role. If Miller and Curbelo are starting then this team will be dominate because they are outplaying solid big players.
