Hopefully it is all and not some. Buzz that not all teams are playing and Illinois is one that is NOT. Would be program suicide.
let say this rumors are true and Illini doesn't played does that mean we gonna screw over Josh Whitman, lovie and Everbody

Should be interesting. Hundreds of our athletes were out protesting on the streets of Champaign on Monday. Coaches and athletic administrators too. Most masked, some not. Virtually none socially distanced. This fine wasn't in effect then but the number of positive test had skyrocketed by that time. https://www.news-gazette.com/corona...cle_b718cdad-9bc0-5d4c-91f8-87ed23e774a5.html

That timeline wouldn't add up for seeing this spike -- lowest end of the incubation period would be yesterday, and even that is rare. My guess is the source is the same as it is on most college campuses: young students bored out of their minds from a summer inside and itching to socialize (and all the things that fall under that umbrella) ignoring the campus rules and going to off-campus parties, small dorm gatherings, etc. This is why I thought even Illinois' aggressive testing plan ultimately wouldn't work. Hormones > everything else at that age. Hard to blame them.

Edit: not to mention, they're doing contact tracing so they should have a decent idea from where cases are originating.

Explaining the road back to fall football for Big Ten, Pac-12

November is suddenly a realistic possibility
The Big Ten reportedly has a preliminary plan to begin the season over the Thanksgiving weekend in late November. Meanwhile, some coaches and athletics directors are pushing their own idea of starting the season as early as mid-October, sources within the conference told 247Sports.

Again, no such plan has been discussed formally among presidents and chancellors, and Warren is unlikely to move on a date until communicating with Scott in the Pac-12.

Most of everyone else. Is the better for you Mr. Literal?
I'm not Mr. Literal and don't speak for Mattcoldagelli (who needs no assistance), but it is better, by a little. Even "Most of everyone else" is accurate if and only if "everyone else" is just the power 5 conferences. If everyone else includes, you know, everyone else, most everyone else is not playing. And in addition to that Division I list, the NCAA has also cancelled the division II and III championships for all fall sports. While i am sure there are some division II and III schools who are attempting to move ahead with a season somehow, i very much doubt that most of them are.

From the article: “What flies in the face of such a rumor is red tape, timing and common sense.”

An announcement now, in face of campus wide quarantines and some schools sending students home, would justly receive widespread ridicule. Having multiple scenarios planned out makes perfect sense. Making an announcement now makes none. Rumors provide fodder for sports writers and message boards junkies like me, but that’s about it.
