Illinois by 14. A pick 6 seals the victory.

So a bus load of 21 and 22 y/o guys who have played four years of football together are going to show up at Wisky all pissed off and ready to make a statement on national tv?! I like it! This game is going to be sweeeeeet!

Hate to say it but I think we get blown out here. Wisconsin won’t be looking past us this time, in fact they probably have this game circled. Would love to eat some delicious crow

We will win. They have a new qb, new rb, lost several OL. I know we miss a few DL, but we fill the spots with guys with experience. Our LB crew and DB's are very experience. It will be close. We will pull it out to begin a winning streak and win the west.

Wisconsin is still pissed from last year as well. I think we can keep it close, but think we will need to pull off some turnovers to beat Wisconsin at home. What I would really like to see is our O-line show what they are made of and run it down their throats, would be some nice irony there. Regardless, we will cover 23 points.

"We will win" is a pretty bold prediction. I mean, we beat them last year, but they were clearly the better team overall on the year (obviously, not on that day.)

I could see us winning, but I don't see it as even "likely."

It really doesn’t matter if they had a better record. We were the better team on that day.
Exactly what I said. We were better on that day. They were still much, much better than us on the year. On the same page, I believe.

I don’t put much stock in ‘pissed from last year’. That May account for some early emotion but then they have to play football for 60 minutes. Let’s see what happens.

They should be more mad at the team that embarassed them 38-7.

Actually I don’t either, However, the original poster thought we would be pissed from the spread. So my point was if you believe pissed helps, I’m not really putting that in the advantage Illinois side.

Vegas is silly with this line. Our D is solid and we can put 30 points on the board with this offense. Wisky has several holes to fill. Winnable game. This is baffling on the spread

A lot comes down to QB play. Can Peters keep us on the field? Maintain long drives, put up TDs, limit turnovers.

My concern is our d-line and RBs. Our secondary should be strong, would be disappointed if they can dissect our safeties/CBs.

23 points seem absurb, we should be able to put up points with our strong core of receivers and TE, 3 former 5 stars.

Wisky loses starting QB recently and top RB and WR to pros. Also loses several starters on O-line. Mertz a RS-Freshmen will start for them. Similuar ranking that Peters had out of HS.

It seems we have the edge at QB, WR, and O line. Without fans in the stands and first game of year it is a toss up IMHO. Experience will matter and hopefully iur upperclassmen can lead us to victory.

In a way, this illustrates my point. Last year this team was viewed as so pathetic that when an article about "What they'd need to win the B1G West" only covered every other team. We were given no chance. And then we had a four game win streak, and the needle has moved exactly zero. The media doesn't respect the work they've done, the odds-makers don't respect their ability to football and neither do a lot of people on this board. The players know that until they prove it on the field (again), we're going to be thought of as the worst team outside of New Jersey.

So yes, I believe they are rightfully angry about being completely overlooked and disrespected. I think they've done the work and are ready to earn it on the field. I'll be very disappointed if they come out flat. They should be emotional over the opportunity to prove the doubters wrong. The time has certainly come, and frankly, that's what I'm expecting to see.

Lots of unsubstantiated optimism on here! Exactly as it should be heading into our first game. I like it! 🏈:hailtotheorange::illinois:

How so? What has changed since last year?
