We legitimately might lose this game. Crazy how things change in 24 hours. I think we all got a little too excited about this team and are getting a dose of reality. Hopefully we can be clutch down the stretch and pull this one out. Either way though win or lose I think we understand now that we’ve got a long way to go to become a champion. Gotta improve as the season goes along and hope that we play our best ball at the right time(the tournament).

So his complimenting a team that plays the Number 8 team in the country even at the half is going overboard?
They’ve taken 7 more shots, and shooting 50% from three to our 25%. And we’re winning. I think we’ll be up 10 by the 10-minute mark and win by ~20.

Idk...I think Ohio is simply much better than our first 2 opponents. I don’t think this is just us being lazy or not trying. I underestimated Ohio. Preston is the best player on the court right now and they have a very good team overall.
Agreed. Team looks like they spent too much time on this board reading the glowing posts. Good for the newcomers to realize those first two games are nothing like what big time basketball is all about.

Props to Ohio...playing well. Good opportunity for the Illini to see if anyone is willing and capable of taking and making those three pointers when the game is tied. No one so far. Ayo getting to the rim at will but all of them have to learn to contribute in some fashion when the !!! puckers. This is what the team needs and Ayo seems to be the only one comfortable on the floor in this situation.
Now, look for Preston to get tired and he showed it late in the half. Vander-Plas is also a strong and smart player but the two are carrying the team. Depth is a huge advantage for the Illini and they must use it and keep the pressure on. No need for highlight plays on offense, but must take care of the ball and rebound....KISS method and use your weapons. Not sure this is the game to test perimeter shooting but it has to be there at some point in close games if the team is to get to where they want to be. Could be a dogfight but if they keep their intensity on defense and cut the turnovers, Illini also could be up double digits in the last 5 minutes. We will know in about 40 minutes what kind of resolve they have, and I expect it is there.

It’s the first half the third game played in a row. We still have the talent and bench to wear them down. Kofi will play better and Preston won’t be hitting everything in sight. Let’s not jump off a cliff after the first half against a much better opponent than the previous two. Your posts are constantly negative.
