Worn out from screaming at the tv. I thought Ayo was going to pull it out. It’s tough to win on the road against a solid team when you get out rebounded and shoot 17-28 from the line.
Take out game 1 against a gimme and he’s only made 4 3s in the last 5 games. He’ll have plenty of opportunity to prove his shot has improved in Big Ten play, but he hasn’t done enough this year so far on his shot. The rebounding is great and should help his stock and the big scoring number was good also.Huh? Hes above 40% from 3 on the year on 3-4 attempts per game.
I hope Mizzou is good. Honestly not sure. Their signature win (pre-Illini), Oregon, barely held off an atrocious Washington team today. This whole discussion reminds me of how last season we got worked by Arizona, so we thought Arizona was amazing, and in the end it turned out that Arizona was a pretty so-so team and we really should have been able to beat them.I said it before but I stand by it - this team has a high floor and a high ceiling. Mizzou is good. They will surely be ranked much of this year. Speaking purely in terms of resume, this likely will not be a bad loss. We played like garbage, beat ourselves at the stripe and still nearly stole this thing at their place. We’re going to improve and be very good as the season goes on.
Griffin might've brought something tonight, but we still don't beat Baylor with him, imho. This team would be 6-0 with Alan Griffin. Bummer.
Having watched a fair amount of Missouri basketball over the past couple years (why, I don’t know) this years team passes the eye test. I think most Mizzou fans would agree. They’re a tough physical team that is more than the sum of their parts. They’re about to have a # next to their name.I hope Mizzou is good. Honestly not sure. Their signature win (pre-Illini), Oregon, barely held off an atrocious Washington team today. This whole discussion reminds me of how we got worked by Arizona, so we thought Arizona was amazing, and in the end it turned out that Arizona was a pretty so-so team and we really should have been able to beat them.
Some of the team didn’t step up.Missed opportunity, so hope it is a learning experience. Poor rebounding and free throw shooting made this a tough game to win. Need to play hard the whole game and we would win this game, I'm fairly sure.
Its Ayos fault and even he would say so because thats what great players do this absolution you are attempting to give him makes no sense .Um, at 4:05, Kofi doesn't catch a feed from Curbelo and then Ayo get's called for charge, could have been called a block very easily.
At 3:46 Kofi is standing out of bounds when we get a chance for a rebound. Mizzou ball.
At 3:20 Ayo scores on contested layup. 76-76
3:09 Curbello gets a bogus foul called, they make 2 free throws. 76-78
2:57 Demonte misses wide open 3
2:25 Ayo is fouled on layup but no call, ball hits side of backboard.
1:54 Kofi strips Tilman who fouls out. 76-78 still
1:30 Ayo turnover on inbound play. Ugh.
1:12 Mizzou travel call, our ball
1:07 Mizzou flop, Ayo called for charge. Could have easily been called block. Easily. Had arm bent as coached.
:54 Mizzou make highly contested shot in lane vs Curbello and Ayo. Nice play, ugh. 80-76
:41 TERRIBLE FLAGRANT CALL against Kofi. Just Terrible! Somehow bucket counts?? 78-80
:41 Mizzou makes 1 free throw. 81-78, Mizzou ball
:10 Illinois shuts down Mizzou and clock violation!
2 minute break for clock evaluation, clock reset from 9.9 to 10.9
Ayo is not even breathing hard. Take a bad shot on the run with 3 seconds left, Illinoi fouls to stop clock.
:03, Mizzou misses FT and Ayo launches 3/4 court shot that had a legit chance.
This is not Ayo's fault. If the Refs just called one of the 3 bad calls differently, lot's change. If Demonte hits his uncontested, wide open 3, we are up. If any of our other players played just a little better throughout this game, different outcome. Watch the last 5 minutes again and then try to blame this on Ayo. No way.
Miller was coming around the baseline screens for the pass... Ayo just jumped too soon or the timing was off.If that's the kind of last second 3 point shot we are going to take, they should have let me shoot it. At least I would have been on two feet.
And he wants to play in the NBA...lol. At this rate, he’s going to be playing in ChinaKofi has really been getting me fired up. Catch the ball man. Get mean. Play with force. Hate to rag on our guys but he has been so frustrating.
Ayo hesitated consistently when three was there. He lacks confidence in 3pTake out game 1 against a gimme and he’s only made 4 3s in the last 5 games. He’ll have plenty of opportunity to prove his shot has improved in Big Ten play, but he hasn’t done enough this year so far on his shot. Coaching blah blah blah....put 5 top-100 guys on the floor and win the goddamned game. I know we’re back but, man, just go out and out-talent a Missouri team one time.

Underwood: That was what happens when you don't make FTs, you shoot 'em absolutely atrocious & you don't get offensive rebounds. Our lack of energy, lack of effort is beyond explanation.
Underwood: When you're missing free throws, you're not mentally sharp
Underwood: I would prefer (Ayo) would never have to score that many points... I also told him he can't have 6 turnovers. Ayo's a great player. Missed FTs that he doesn't miss.
Underwood: "Trying to drive it to the rim for a quick two" when Ayo took that awkward three late in the game
Underwood on being -9 in rebounding margin: "Oh, it's all effort... I will get that problem solves, I promise you."
Underwood: No one on our team had an offensive rebound in the 1st half. I don't know if I've ever had that in my career.
Underwood: Baylor was better than us that night. Tonight reminded me of the Ohio game when we were just flat.
Ayo Dosunmu said he heard Mizzou coaches yell "foul" before his last shot so he tried to draw contact when Mizzou reached at him.
Underwood: Trying to follow MSU nonconference blueprint."I've never dodged anyone."
exactlyI love Ayo, but too much hero ball at the end. He forgets there are 4 other guys on the floor in those situations. Curbelo on the other hand has a knack for finding the open guy and getting him the ball. Seems pretty obvious you'd want him handling the ball with Ayo playing off the ball
Had same thoughts, maybe Kofi returns. BU teams have improved as season goes on. Big10 going to be tough on all teams.Unpopular opinion:
We win by 2 against Ohio U
We get exposed by Baylor
We beat a soft “Duke” team
We lose to Mizzou for the 3rd year in a row
We aren’t a top 10 team
We might make the sweet 16
Ayo and Kofi will be on campus in 2021

Someone tell me I’m wrong
