Gotcha. I was listening who I thought our top 3 targets from last year. If/when it comes.out, we can discuss then
Ok so the news about Beason possibly transferring to Oregon State to be with his brother (cousin) jogged my memory that we were once going after his brother hard. Who plays WR....so possibly he is the third player in the top 3 WR targets
1. Mookie
2. AJ
3. Beason

I’m so antsy for the rest of the coaching staff to be announced and for this particular thread to be exciting again. Our recruiting has been pretty lackluster (if not completely dead) for awhile now and I am ready to see what types of players as well as the regions the new staff prioritizes.

After watching the press conference, I would gather that Miller will be a Midwest/Chicago suburbs guy. I was very impressed with him and he has “future head coach” stamped right on him. However, I am curious about Petersen. Petersen has coached in the Big Ten as well, but it will be interesting to see what recruiting connections he has. I wish the reporters asked him about recruiting specifically, but no one did. Recruiting/development is definitely an area we need to see marked improvement in to compete in the B1G.

Here’s to hoping that we won’t be at the bottom of the B1G recruiting rankings for much longer.

The 2022 offensive line recruits in Illinois isn't as strong as 2021 but there are still some interesting prospects for Miller to pursue. Would love to see Danny McGuire (Marist) and Valen Erickson (St. Rita - offered by previous staff) get a long look. Yaser Alawadi (Maine East) is also highly ranked but haven't seen much on him. Each of these areas are locations that Illinois has had success in the past (to varying degrees).

I want to know who is going to be planting their ace in the St. Louis area. There are so many prospects and it isn't as highly recruited as Chicago. I would think C Pat is the clear logical choice but I also believe there needs to be another new face that makes the rounds from time to time as well

Agreed. Also, it seems like we’ve lost much of our momentum in STL. Drinkwitz/Mizzou seems to have doubled their efforts there and it really paid off this year. If we were to keep Patterson, I hope he gets some help recruiting STL because he will need it. Bielema mentioned a 5 hour radius from Champaign, so it makes sense to have a solid presence there.

Good year to really jump back into the state. No football was played, no new tape. Probably hearsay who has kept working at it. Hoping staff makes inroads and can get a jump on who to scout heading into next season, ahead of other schools.

Refusing to change that profile pic until we win a Big 10 Championship, huh?

Not a linemen, but Wyoming did sign Jovan Marsh from Marist in its 2021 class. That and the fact they offered Pat Coogan from there would lead one to assume Miller is very familiar with McGuire and vice versa. Wyoming also offered an OT from Lincoln Way East, Josh Kreutz, and a center from Fremd who signed with Wyoming.

In Wyoming’s 2020 class they offered 4 OL from IL and 3 from MO including Kevin Tyler.

The offensive side of the ball for BB looks good. The board has complained about Lovies choices for staff and he chose men that really did not fit the bill. It was hard to understand our Off with Rod Smith. We would come out sometimes like they wanted to stay home and other times this year like gangbusters. Then it looked like they fell asleep through the rest of the game. The Ia. game, the NW game, the offense became very predictable. I don't understand the use of Luke Ford in his offense. Let's hope the new offensive staff has a good game plan. The O Line will be the most experienced in the BT but they are going to have to learn from another coach. I am not sure about Peters staying another year. He did not look right this year. The Wisc game set the tone for his year. No idea what happened. I know he was out for two games and then he hardly played the last game. Go Illini and hope the new staff hits the ground running.

I could see BB being the guy to help CP down there. I'm sure we'll see him hitting a lot of areas initially, but St Louis would be a good one to hit on a regular basis for him. JMO

I'm sure we are going to hit STL hard along with the whole state of IL, IN, WI, MI, MN. I can't wait to start winning over kids in the Midwest and supplementing FL, TX, NJ kids.

100% however I would include the entire state of Missouri. NS is an example of what Western Missouri offers. I have always felt this is the correct formula for success. Add in a kid or two from Ga, Md, and Cali as well.
