Now we get a little bit of a break with Maryland, @ Nebraska, OSU, and PSU.

There has been plenty of talk about this not being a break. But as it's stated here, it is a LITTLE BIT of a break.

3 games against unranked teams and 1 road game against the worst team in the league is as much of a break as you'll get. So it's at very least a little break.

Two things:

- Sure was nice to watch an NU game without that girl screaming the whole time

- Did anyone post this one yet?? 😏

Some that gets it. Finally.

Note to team. Play 40 minutes at that pace and effort!!!! Even if you lost! Please
Everyone on the team would like to play with that intensity and focus for 40 minutes. The problem is that it is extremely hard to do because you don't realize that you're not. Sometimes you need something or someone, like your coach or team leader, (Ayo), to "inform" you that you are not; but in a way that doesn't insult the players. I've never met a player that thought he was loafing while he was playing. Halftime reflection is important to reset your focus. Good coaches know how to do that. Bad coaches rely on jumping around, clapping, and throwing out a bunch of rah-rah bull crap. Thankfully, I believe BU is one of the good ones.

That is a break. The best one we get all season. You're wrong.

Actually bootsy...you're wrong.

Webster defines the word "break" used in this context as "a pause in work or during an activity or event".

So by definition...you are literally wrong.

If you want to sound smart, maybe you should refer to it as "a stretch of play against opponents we should handle"...or maybe "games against weaker opponents".

Have a nice day!

I still cannot believe how bad one side of the court is for each team. NW has some capable shooter, but in the second half you would thought a church rec team came out at half-time. We scored 28 pts on that end and they scored 13. That is amazing. When we went on the first run in the second half I knew it was over. I wonder if you looked at games in Welsch-Ryan and that side of the court what is the difference. The second half they turned the ball over many times. But the play was Belo stealing the ball. That play will live in the craw of NW fans for many years and he will be the hated one like Kraft for years. I am glad he is on our side.

An alternate (and technically 1st) definition of "break" is "an interruption of continuity or uniformity."

The Big Ten schedule is continuously incredibly difficult but this is a break from that continuity.

So by definition, he is literally *not* wrong.

I’m not sure I have ever seen two halves of basketball more polar opposite by both teams.

Lol....this is an admirable stretch!

You could also technically say it's a "break" from playing good teams. Also a stretch. You could also technically say its a "break" from B1G road games...since 3 of 4 are at home. So, yeah you can use it several ways here.

I was just trying to get bootsy to relax a little. Some of his posts were a little harsh towards posters for no reason.

How is it a stretch? It's literally the FIRST definition for the noun, break.

Your post was more of a stretch.

We're all adults here. I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch about someone's tone on the internet.

Grandson was a huge spark. There was a point in the game when we we were still behind and he made a pass, got a critical rebound, stole the ball or made a shot on nearly every possession. Not sure why he’s barely played the last few halves, but I hope he stays part of the rotation.
He hasn't played because early on, he looked horrendous and didn't play the right defense and the offense suffered. Now he is doing all the right things and getting confidence...watch out!!

I'm curious as to whether or not that was a record defensive half for the Illini. Have we ever held a team to only 13 points in a half or two made FGs in the modern era?

What a second half....

At halftime I changed Illini shirts , went outside and yelled at the top of my lungs, as I figured BU was doing , and came back in to witness history...a complete shell shocking, destroying performance by the beloved....

I love my Illini teams......

“That’s the stuff I want to build on, build our program around those kinds of efforts,” Underwood said. “It doesn’t happen like that every night. I get wrapped up in the play and the next play, but that’s about it and you realize some of those things after the fact.”

“I’ve never been a part of anything like that,” Cockburn said. “You saw it. You saw how we reacted to it. I was in awe, man, just being on the floor watching that happen and being a part of it. It was a really good feeling. I can’t explain how happy I was. I was in so much joy. I didn’t realize fatigue. Everything lost sense. I was just out there running, playing, enjoying myself. That’s a really good feeling.”

First half wake forest for me.
Yeah, it’s really not even close- I know we beat Wake Forest by 19 in the first half, not 40, but Wale was #1 in the country, it was at the Hall and it was rocking- not comparable from an emotional level

the last 5 minutes of the Arizona game obviously is tops for me from a pure emotional stand point
