Obnoxious Maryland fans is redundant
Retro, redundant is an understatement. We sat next to an obnoxious cocky Maryland fan on the plane on the way to the Maui Invitational in Nov 2000 for NINE hours! We were so happy Bill Self and his Illini team, in his 2nd game as coach, beat Gary Williams’ Terrapins 90-80. (BTW, In Bill Self’s first game ever-which was in Maui, the Illini beat Jerry Tarkanian’s UNLV 74-69). Maryland went on to lose to Dayton in the third place game, and the Illini lost to Lute Olson’s Arizona team in the championship game 79-76. I’m betting that Maryland fan didn’t have a good plane trip back home...

We were the 7th best offense according to Kenpom before the NW game. We saw what our offense's potential is when Miller and Trent can hit some threes in the second half. Virtually unguardable. Lets keep it up!

Can we find Ayo a shirt to wear with his name spelled right?
We won by 25 - I am concerned changing it now could cause irreparable harm to the rest of our season...

NOTE: I'm getting a little worried about Adam Miller.....and I'm a really big proponent of his. However, his game is starting to mimic DJ Richardson, where he's relying too much on the outside shot. I know AM has the ability to get to the rim. Hoping to see a slow transition to 50% of his shots coming from near the basket.
That’s a good comparison - DJ was a good player here, but you had the sense he could have been so much more and showed flashes before becoming a 3 and D guy mostly.

Adam needs to develop a well rounded game now before he settles into a role like DJ did- take it to the rim and get to the line if nothing else and learn to drive and dish. If he just did those two things a few times a game he will develop into such a better player- he’s capable, no doubt

Yeah, I live here in Maryland, actually got my second degree from there, and I know them well. I was at the game between us and MD in that D.C. tournament in...what...2001...they taunted mercilessly the whole metro ride home. And when I say mercilessly... I mean crude and ugly...and me with my wife and three year old daughter. At one point, my wife had to tell me to let it go because she could see it might get out of hand. So, yes, I agree with you calling it an understatement.

Just to be clear...I can take trash talk...I’ve gone to Nats park when the Cubs are in town several times, with a friends season tickets right in the first row overlooking the Nats dugout...friendly flack is totally acceptable...and actually enjoyable.

I'm getting a little worried about Adam Miller

Underwood said his defense was grading out really high, which I think is a good sign for a guy struggling on the offensive side. He strikes me as too talented not to figure it out, but it's hard to say when the light might come on.

I look on the bright side: this team is strong enough to have limited minutes from any one person most nights, and I think some other guys are coming along to fill gaps. AM has a really high ceiling, so I get why there's concern there, but thankfully we have a lot of guys contributing.

Underwood is saying all the right things to try and keep his confidence up. And I do think his defense is improving. We need him and Trent to be legitimate and reliable threats if we hope to make a deep run in March.

I really have no concerns with AM. He has played 12 college games in his life and is contributing and developing well. Stay good on D, low TOs and build confidence on open shots. He will have stuff to work out in offseason but I am very satisfied with AM ( like BU)

Ayo's last name was misspelled on his gameday jersey. Pretty inexcusable. I'm also a little surprised they don't just reuse the same set for the entire season. Haven't noticed any similar mistakes in previous games.

That is ridiculous. I'm trying to think how that's even possible? Wouldn't the team order at least 5-10 jerseys in bulk, for each player. And when you make things in bulk, everything should be the same. Did anyone ask him about it? That's embarrasing

Don't want this to be close. Take it to the turtles.
Gonna be interesting I see a total opposite of last years games ,I believe we jumped out big leads 12 15 points then couldn't hold on.
Total flip close till half and we pull away 10 too 15 point lead we need to get them before they reload!!

So, Jacob Grandison said he considers Trent Frazier like a "rat" on defense. When Frazier makes a defensive play, they make rat noises to each other.

Brad Underwood said team moved on pretty quickly from Northwestern game, which he called a "hurricane" nobody could stop.

"I'm not sure a lot of teams could've won that game." But he understands that's not likely to happen in many league games.

Underwood: Maryland very talented. Not as big as they've been in the past. Almost half their FGs are from three, can really drive the ball.

"Are you a floor slap guy?" Brad Underwood: "Absolutely. Does that surprise you?"

"We'll have to be very, very good, like you have to be every night in this league or you'll get beat."

Underwood asked if Da'Monte Williams' injury (assumed ankle?) will need rest: "Rest comes in April."

Underwood said he'd like to see team not needing to make those type of runs and show more consistency, which they're working on. But the team does have a lot of confidence that it can come back.

I never thought that DJ had elite level athleticism. Thus he was forced into the role he played. That said I think Ace does have that level of athleticism. He’s just trying to find his way in a new role on a loaded, older team.

side note, isn’t he second cousins with DJ?

Where is Luther Powell, Jr. I wonder if they joked in the locker room when seeing his name misspelled.
