Hope Curbelo cot his worst game of the season out of his system . We will need him to be a lot more with it as the season goes along. Great comeback victory but I would prefer us to play 2 good halves and not just one.
7 assists is hardly his worst game

The floor slapping bought me to near tears. I'm not even lying. That's the kind of spirit that's been missing from this program the last decade+. It was absolutely beautiful to watch.

My favorite part of the comeback was that we didn't need Ayo hero balling to do it. In fact, I don't think he really did much on the offensive side until the last 5-6 mins where he went into his usual 'closer assassin mode'.

Checked the box score today. Only one Mildcat scored in double digits - Beran with 11 pts.

I’m not going to lose sleep over it, but Illini fans would be feeling different if shoe was on the other foot and that was say Aaron Craft or Mulcahy making that play against Illini under same circumstances. Yes, it was crafty but really amounts to a one-man press with a 22-point and less than a minute less. And, yes, I understand most on here will disagree with me.
I agree- it was a d-head play no doubt. To stay back and pick off a lazy pass is one thing - to “hide” and sneak up on a player up 22 with 47 seconds is like pulling a hidden ball trick up 10 runs with 2 outs in the 9th inning.

I think Andre was just having a little fun at that point, but let’s put that play in the trash bin for the rest of the year

Everything sounds bad without context. Our players were fueled. Northwestern was instigating all of the first half. We wanted to get them good. I support anything that sparks our team and gets them going.

I jumped in this thread just to see if anyone talked about that play. Personally I didn't like it without context. What I REALLY wanted was to save that play for when we are up 22 on Iowa! I don't care how much we are up on them, keep putting it on them

It looked like Curbelo told the other guys in the huddle right before Hamlin's FTs he was going to do it. They all were grinning. Hamlin then wiped the grin off as he started his FT routine. All-in-all, just another way they were in their heads, and NW was beaten down. The bench was also yelling "Booooooo" when we made a 3-pter. A jab at Buie??? Even dominated the mental game.

Probably too late in the game for that move but I am not losing any sleep over it because we’ve been on the other side of these types of games way too much the last 10-12 years. And I love the creativity and gamer mindset from a freshman.
