You should only use this picture when you want him fired, shame, shame on you. You can make it up with a wifey picture though.

So excited about the staff Bret has put together, and looking forward to seeing how this team progresses. I might even have some friends who are alums but don’t really follow the team excited. Most of all, I’m excited for the players. I think Lovie and his staff likely did a good job of helping the players grow as men, but now the players will get that plus growing as football players on the field.

I honestly don’t know what to expect from the team next year. I think they’ll be better, but to be honest I’ll settle for passion being shown by coaches on sidelines, a big decrease in silly penalties, and a D that doesn’t get carved up by opposing offenses. That should lead to more wins, but if the results aren’t quite what we’d like as long as we’re seeing those things in the first year I can be patient. And I fully expect this team to be contending for the division lead by year 3.

I had not seen this article posted yet:

The section that resonated with me:

Nine of Bielema's 10 assistants have previous power-five coaching experience. Five of Bielema's assistants have FBS coordinator experience, and five either played for or coached for Bielema at Wisconsin. Bielema seems to have made great use of the $5 million salary pool provided by Josh Whitman and has landed a very, very qualified Big Ten staff.

I cannot speak highly enough with how impressed I am with this coaching staff. I was initially concerned with the Peterson hire and what that might project for the rest of the hires. But the conclusion of this staff is incredible. I also am optimistic at how many guys seem eager to work again with Bielema, that says a lot about his coaching relationships and positive work environment.

They have no need for special teams. Bret plans to go for it every 4th down, and only attempt touchdowns every drive. On opponent punts he plans to rush 11 and get the ball back before it's kicked. Quite the plan!
Analytics approves 👍

I wasn’t overly thrilled when Peterson was named, but now that the whole staff is in place and I’ve read a bit about him I think he is a solid hire. Though the relationship/connection between him and Bret wasn’t apparent, there does seem to be one. And I like that he has experience with molding his offense around his players and is adaptable enough to run an offense that fits with what Bielema wants to do. I also like that he has solid credentials when it comes to QB development. With who we have in the QB room now and the type of QB recruits we’ll add in the future, development is going to be big. I also think he’ll bring stability because as long as he performs I think he’ll be here awhile. Some of the other coaches could certainly be moving on sooner rather than later for bigger things.

I want to be excited about the Illini beloved football team regaining traction......I really really want to be excited , BUT................................................

year after year after year etc has me numb to feeling we can overcome the multiple 63-0 losses, being embarassed time after time with the upsets we have over wisky being an anomoly instead of genuine hope that we can do it...

the BB hire and new staff has given me some enthusiasm about the future, BUT................................................................
