Michigan has 1 loss, let say they can't play anymore games, you think they should win conference.
This is one year when the BTT can serve a purpose besides incidental entertainment and crown a true champion. (If, that is, all the top teams are playing in it.)

I think at the end of the season team with most wins gets a share of the title, as well as any team that could theoretically catch them if they were to win all their cancelled games. Probably makes sense to also have a minimum number of games. I think 14 (70%) makes sense. So for example, if anyone reaches 16 wins, any team that has a wins+cancelled games totalling 16 or more gets a share of the title. Not a very satisfying solution but these kids are playing in a very difficult situation so I think it makes sense to err on the side of rewarding too many rather than too few.

Virtually all players and staff are in phase 2 which will be eons from now. Teams will either have to skip the line or play the tourney unvaccinated. I sense an impending violation of medical ethics.
Not the coaches (at least at U of I). In person DIA staff was just recently given the option to get the vaccine.

So every other team in the league should be penalized for their inability to play? Yet MSU and Neb were required to play 2 days after their quarantine? I call BS, scUM is ducking 5 days is plenty of time to be able to play the Illini. They just don’t want to.
I don’t get it either- would UM play the game on Friday? I mean, do they really need an entire week of practice before they are willing to play? I can’t believe the Big Ten is letting them get away with that. 4 days should be more than enough

I'm sitting back watching this year's highlights and AYO really does look like a pro... Physically. He just looks bigger than everyone else... for some reason. This young man has a chance to really take Illinois to the Final Four. Yes, I said it. And Our version of Shaq, down low. Not to mention, the rest of the team. Extreme talented freshman that only know how to win. This team has something about them.

I am very happy watching this team play this year. This all started last year, around this time when I started to tell myself and my friends. "Hey, this team has a chance." And, when I say chance, I mean win it all. At the beginning of this year I began to worry because there seemed to be a lack of on court chemistry. Talent wasn't an issue, it was team chemistry. It was a big issue.

But if you watch this team over the last 3 games.. One can see THAT LOOK in the whole team's eyes. They are trying to win it all. They believe they can. This team is fun to watch. Before last year. I haven't enjoyed a basketball game since 2005-2006. What I mean by that is, when the game is close, I'm not worried about losing because we have Ayo. Instead, it has been the last 10 years plus wondering, "how are we going to lose this one, even though we are up by 20 at half." From one extreme to the other.

It was really nice yesterday to know, when the ball was thrown up, that I knew we would fine a way. A way to win, not to lose. That Indy game. That Iowa game. Neither has me worried. Instead I felt something different. Something thrilling. Something that felt familiar. I was excited. Feels...so long ago. I haven't felt like this since.... could it be? Since the 2004-2005 year... That's it. Excited. I'm excited. This team is exciting. The coach is exciting. We have a swag on this team. Welcome back Illini Basketball. It has been tough but I'm glad I stuck around. To be an Illini Fan and an XRP holder over the last years..... My Illini are back and my XRP is about to moon.

Excited!

The Wisconsin game had that feel of a game we might have let get away in the past. But for some reason I was quite calm while I watched it. You could just tell that the players were not worried about the outcome at all. There's definitely a quiet confidence I'm sensing with this team right now. Very good timing for a run to the B10 Championship. Let's get it done!!!

Great win! The team is plain on a different level. Even if Ayo has a sub-par game we still have enough talent to win. Gorgi isn't going through what he went through last year by missing a bunnies. The def has notched it to another level. Great rebounding stats against Wisc. That is unheard of against a Wisc team. We will beat NW.

Respectfully disagree. This team:

It would be outstanding if games could be moved easily to accomodate for the uncontrollable impact of Covid, but I doubt if thaet is possible due to advertising commitments, logistics and staffing commitments. Thoughts?

In a normal year I would agree with you - given the facilities being used for other events, dealing with tickets and fans attending etc. This year, that's just not the case. I think the rescheduling is more straightforward of when the teams can play based on their schedule.

It does raise competitive fairness - like giving UM a week to practice and prepare for Wisconsin, when Wisky has to play Thursday on the road, fly back get a practice in on Friday then a shootaround Saturday and play Sunday. MSU and Iowa seem to be getting the short end of the stick having to play every other day practically. UM already had a favorable schedule and still hasn't had to play ILL OSU or Iowa which are the next three best teams in the Big Ten in Net, so it seems they should make every effort to play those teams when there is a game scheduled

There's a rumor that the B1G will prioritize asking teams to make up single-plays over rescheduling rematches. If true, that's good for us, because we're the only single-play that Michigan needs to make up so far. While we're on the topic, Michigan has a pretty favorable schedule this year. Their single-plays: @Neb, @PU, Rut, @OSU, Iowa, UI. Apart from Wisc, they only have to play each of the teams currently in the top half of the conference once this year. And looking at our schedule, we're only slightly better, with double-plays against both Wisc and OSU.

Which made me wonder, who has the toughest in-conference schedule this year? I didn't check all of the teams, but I did notice that PSU has double-plays against Mich, UI, OSU, and PU and single-plays against Iowa and Rut. Minnesota has double-plays against Mich, UI, Iowa, PU, Rut, and a single-play against OSU. Brutal.

If Michigan gets to postpone games due to injury concerns, do we get to do the same? Cramming in our games against Neb and MSU are almost certainly high risk, low reward propositions for us. We've been ready to play all season long. I don't think we have any responsibility to kill ourselves to make up for inconveniences created by other teams.

I believe the concern is the opposite: getting out of the groove of conference play. I don't think adding a previously postponed game or two to a current 10-day break would be considered killing ourselves.

It doesn't look like they're going to do that. They're talking about rescheduling the MSU game outside of the 10-day break, and Neb's schedule won't allow for a reschedule during the 10-day break either. So, as things stand right now, the 10-day break won't be changing, but they might try to cram three more games into our schedule leading up to the B10 tournament and NCAA tournament. They're going to cut into our rest and preparation time in the lead up to the most important time of year. I don't see why we should agree to that.

Agreed, I do not understand the 18th vs the 11th for the MSU game. Frankly, Nebraska should just cancel their season and void their prior games. They are horrid and only screwing with teams that have legit prospects to make the tournament. They can find some NAIA teams that do as bad a job adhering to protocol as they do to fill out their schedule.

I think BU and staff probably do have a say in this at the end of the day. No way the league allows Michigan to dictate stuff and not at least allow other teams to voice their opinion. I think if BU didn't like it there would have been push back. At least I'd like to think this is true..

Unfortunately he has a high probability of ending up in Iowa, Kansas, or Missouri on his way out. Hopefully he can find an airport. Much better to just fly over those states.

The other driveable option is South Dakota, which is somehow profoundly even worse. I guess there's Wyoming too but no thanks.

Would be very difficult if one did not have a deep bench. We have a pretty decent bench, we should be ok. Would expect every team to get a few days off prior to the Big 10 tournments Any more than two games in the same week is expecting a lot of players who also have academic responsiblities.
