If Izzo was that kind of guy he would not have had the successful he has had. I do not recall anything in his biography that suggest he does not deal with players in an upfront and respectful fashion.
players transfer out at EVERY major program all the time . many reasons why . sometimes the player finds himself in the 11th-12th & 13th chair on the bench . that also means you often aren’t on the scrimmage floor when the top 5 are playing the second 5 in practice . the coach can be totally upfront and tell you why you aren’t playing . that’s not disrespectful . the player will often , not always , reconsider his status on the team and think about a transfer to a lower level school if he really wants to play in the games

Can anyone give some additional insight on the last question that was asked to Underwood about "no one knowing S$%# about it yet?"

A few weeks ago, during one of the media (edit: autocorrect picked a weird time to use "medusa") calls, BU alluded to being excited about knowing something going on and enjoying that the press guys didn't know @#$& about it.

A few weeks ago, BU opened a pregame press conference visibly giddy and told everyone he knows something and he's extra happy knowing none of the reporters know s**t about it yet. When pressed for more information, he simply said he wasn't telling and everyone else would find out later on. McColley was told today that it's still not time for the big reveal yet.

EDIT: Lost beat me to it.

Wonder if it's recruiting, contract extension, or someone who's coming back next year?

Which btw, Frazier and Damonte back next year thoughts?

If I’m one of those guys with a chance to earn an advanced degree (hopefully in more normal, fun college times) and without a lot of lucrative professional basketball opportunities, I’d definitely come back for another year of college ball. If Ayo and Kofi leave, it just might not be @ Illinois. Although it’s hard to see DMW going somewhere else. Even Trent to an extent as he kind of lead the resurgence. But a one year free agency type of chance to play for a title contender could be very enticing if the fit was there.

If Ayo leaves, (hopefully) we will get Burnett to fill his spot and go with a 4 guard lineup with:
1 - Curbelo
2 - Frazier (if stays)
3 - Burnett (if transfers here)
4 - Damonte/Miller
5 - Giorgi

If we could just fill that center spot, we're in good shape

First off Bench/Potential Starters: Hutcherson, Grandison, Coleman-Hawkins

I think they’d be welcomed as long as their were willing to compete for their role, and open to fewer minutes *if* that’s what was best for the team. I have a feeling both will be gone, but would love if they stayed.

Competing for fewer minutes? Frazier plays more than anyone besides maybe Ayo. His minutes would not go down....

I did not predict Frazier’s minutes decreasing. I think the players would just need to be open and accepting Of the possibility. This will be a bonus year for those seniors that the younger players on roster were not anticipating having to compete against for minutes when they committed. I think treating them as returning 5th year entrenched starters may complicate the team dynamic.

btw if they return, and Nimari transfers in I predict

1. Curbello / Nimari
2. Trent / Goode
3. Miller / Damonte / Melendez
4. Grandison / Hawkins
5. Giorgi / Hawkins

That would be us again if Kofi stays. I'd think we'd be odds on favorites to win the NC if somehow Ayo decided to stay, too. (pipe dream)

Big game today, MSU will be ready and we will get their best shot right away. We need to weather the storm, and we should pull it out in the second half.
Illinois 78
MSU 71

Thinking feed the post over and over this contest (Kofi / Giorgi , I think they have no answer for them two , like most teams). Michigan State is playing right now for an at large tourney bid , they will be "juiced up" and we just need to match that energy out the gate .
No unforced turnovers and think we can come away with another road win here , very scrappy game ahead....
And let`s shoot free throws like we did against Minnesota ;)

If Iowa loses to Michigan, but beats OSU & we win all 3 this week, we clinch second place regardless of how we finish @Michigan & @OSU.

If Iowa beats both, we win the title if we win out.

I just don’t see Sparty hanging with us. Blowout city.

Illini 84
Sparty 66
Depends on which team shows up. The team @Minnesota or the team @Nebraska.

Though, I feel like down the stretch we’re gonna show up as the @Minnesota team more often than that. The guys know it’s crunch time & have no margin for error.

I just want the synchronized floor slapping to continue. If we lock down these last five games, the rest of the B1G fans will HATE it.

And we will bathe in a pool of their tears while laughing at their anger.

I'm personally less concerned about the team's focus and prep for today's game as I am for the sandwich game Thursday, and then the team's physical readiness for Saturday.

Get through Saturday unscathed, and the readiness for that last week won't be an issue.
