I feel in today's game, a roster full of athletic guys 6'4" - 6'9" is ultimate. Granted, they must have offensive skills, especially shooting from distance, but on defense, switch, switch, switch. The fact that the NBA has morphed to a time when a big like Kofi cannot yet sniff the first round is crazy, but it is reality. I'd take as many long athletic wings as we could get, all day long.

Question: If Kofi/Staff know he is leaving, why didn’t we celebrate Kofi on Senior Night too?
Because you don’t celebrate sophomores on senior night.

Ayo at least is an upperclassmen.

BU and Antigua will find a big man transfer, no doubt. Remember they found Delarosa late, he was hampered by knee injury but talent was there. He was alsi a bball savant....according to BU

Podziemski - it's really difficult to rate his skills based upon the video. Extremely weak competition. I guess we're recruiting a shooter --- but will he be able to guard? He has so many levels of basketball talent sitting between where he is today at St. Johns Northwestern HS and the elite talent of the Big 10:

Wisconsin HS - 3A (Podz sits here)
Wisconsin HS - 4A
Wisconsin HS - 5A
NAIA
NCAA Division 3
NCAA Division 2
Junior College
Mid Majors
Power 5 (His offers sit here)

Yeah, the level of competition makes him a wild card. Shooting generally translates, the other stuff, who knows? That said, his skill set and length will be extremely hard to take a pass on.

Low floor, high ceiling type is the vibe I'm getting. With the way the transfer market works these days no reason not to take a chance, if we have room on the roster.

Wasn't Meyers Leonard from a 1A high school? Other small town players: Brian Cardinal, Joe Bertrand, Jack Sikma, Larry Bird. Not saying he's any of those players, but obviously other high major schools see something in him. They didn't with, say, a Matt Chastain. I'll trust those BU and those other coaches know how to evaluate talent, no matter where it may be.

Leonard was a 7' NBA level athlete.

Podziemski looks a touch slow and perhaps is living on his size to beat inferior competition. Maybe he'll be fine at the p5 level, but maybe he's not athletic enough and can't get open for shots or guard anyone.

To me, we don't need a wing with Goode and Menendez already committed, I'd be focusing on bigs.

What’s the story on JJ Taylor? Caught some highlights of his this morning while perusing the interwebs.

The flip side is that he may turn out to be similar to Weiskamp. Kid is a lottery ticket, not much to lose.

Is there a reason you cannot be from a small town and play?

Meyers was from Robinson, IL, population 6,713.

I cannot ever tell about quickness of players by looking at highlights. Really believe it is at least as big of asset as size. If these players have it they will be important additions. If not they will never see much playing time because they will be defensive liabilities. Trent and Belo are examples of quickness without size and are successes. Ayo has both.

I can see both sides of this and really you just dont know until they start playing in the big ten.
Leonard was not a nba level when we got him but he showed that he had a lot of skill that translated even though he was a player that was head and shoulders above his high school competitors.
Now on the flip side look at tisdale. He was head and shoulders above his competitors and was a mixed bag at college. Wanted to play outside and not fight under the basket. He was a little slow to be a four.
Overall he did make some contributions but you just didnt know about either of these kids until they started in college

Tisdale was a 1,000 point scorer and was the all time leading shot blocker until Nanna broke his record. Certainly not an NBA player but did a lot more than “made some contributions.” And with the right coach and roster (ie a big bruising 4 vs Davis), I think he could have been Pittsnogle.

Wouldn't mind Podziemski, but we don't have many solid ball handelers. Much prefer a true backup PG, Brunette, and transfer big.

I think Frazier and Damonte may return. But without Frazier just leaves Curbello as the only PG. Kofi and Ayo gone. Unless Hamlin improves dramatically, need a transfer big to help Giorgi next year. See Hamlin and BBV as backups.
