AWESOME WIN!
Maybe it's time to look at Curbelo's stat line a little differently. Yeah, he commits too many turnovers, but he also creates a lot of fantastic scoring opportunities. He creates point-blank opportunities for teammates in the lane, he gets himself layups and short jumpers, he gets fouled, he kicks out for open 3's. I want fewer turnovers, but I'm going to leave him on the court because of all the other positive results he produces---like WINS! And, how about that steal and dunk with 2 1/2 minutes remaining that increased our lead to 12? and the clutch 1-and-1s?
You and I and Dakich may be in the minority but I think Curbelo is a strong plus asset. Without Ayo, Curbelo is the only guard creating any offense.

I have a feeling his off-season growth is going to be astounding in more than one area. These last two games really give us a picture of what next year could be if we get Trent+DMFW and Kofi back. We could continue to be a very dangerous team.
If I were Kofi, I would move onto something a little less physical, like maybe cage fighting?

MVP of the game Curbelo. 😂 1 assist, 6 TO's, 13 shots in 25 minutes. I now why Coach looks 10 years older this year. Wow....

I sure wasn’t looking to see 20 turnovers. Or that we go up 14 multiple times to wilt it away. Or that Brad lets Trice to continue that heater by not fouling. I guess I was mostly just frustrated with giving away those leads and the careless turnovers that continue to be a problem. But as Brad says a win is a win and they looked pumped in the locker room so I’ll shut up.

jesus, imagine only posting negative s*** after a quad 1a win without your best PG and winning 9/10.

A three star freshman big who is struggling in B1G play? Call the press! Lord the majority of people on here really need to temper their expectations.

You mean you didn't buy the hype (found solely on here, of course) that Hawkins was an unheralded gem who would set the B1G on fire?

hah to be fair though those 13 shots yielded 17 points......had 7 boards also

17 points, 7 boards 1 assists and 6 tos is a mixed bag, but even ayo has had some games like that this year ha
Absolutely. He normally has way more assists. I have complete confidence the TO's will come down and the defense will improve with maturity. A 6-foot guard pulling 7+ rebounds in the last couple of games is effort, grit, savvy, and vision. If he already has that now, his ceiling is going to be really fun.

Most Big Ten Wins in Consecutive Seasons for
@IlliniMBB

28 - 2004/05 National Finals
27 - 2020/21 TBD???
27 - 1984/85 Elite 8
26 - 1988/89 Final 4
26 - 1952/53 Final 4
25 - 1987/88
25 - 1942/43 Elite 8

We're in great company!!!!
Now scale it based on the number of wins available... we have 40 opportunities now, but in 04-05 we had only 32 right? 28/32 = 87.5%. We would need 35 to match that performance and the most we can get is 29...

Great "Moxy" guys , big time win all things considered...win at Wisconsin on Senior Day , overcoming 20 turnovers and making free throws down the stretch .
Gut-check win no doubt and keep playing defense the way you did today and take the "chips" as they fall , you will always be in the game when you play defense like today (until Trice went Reggie Miller on ya , just tip ya hat) because there will be off nights when the shots won`t be dropping.

Ovell-all big time win.. keep up the effort gentlemen moving forward...Be Proud , very proud , when you stay focused down the stretch all things considered....

Today's win is now the 8th Quad 1 victory for Illinois, tying OSU for most in the country. KenPom a solid 6 (behind Iowa, Houston, and the 3 top teams) with the rating increased from the win, NET rating of 5 (Houston passed them in the past week), WAB up to 4 (ahead of OSU and a touch behind Baylor), SOR still at 5 behind OSU.

Michigan up to 2 in all ratings, looks to be more of a 1 seed lock than Baylor at this point.
